The Kroger Co. is recalling certain containers of its Deluxe Chocolate Paradise Ice Cream. The recalled ice cream contains tree nuts, which the ingredient label omits. For those with nut allergies, consuming the ice ream could post a severe health risk. Details on which packages the recall applies to are below.
Kroger said in a release [pdf], "For consumers who are not allergic to tree nuts, there is no safety issue with the product."

The Kroger Co. is recalling some containers of its Kroger Deluxe Chocolate Paradise Ice Cream that the supermarket chain sold in 17 states. They are: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. The ice cream was also sold at Jay C, Food 4 Less, Hilander, Owen's, Pay Less and Scott's stores in Illinois and Indiana.
The product comes in a 48 oz. container with a Jan. 24 sell-by date with the following UPC Code: 11110 50712. It is the only sell-by date affected by this recall.
WHY: The ice cream may contain tree nuts, a potential allergen, that were not listed on the label. People who are allergic to tree nuts could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consumer the product. Customers should return the product to stores for a full refund or replacement.
