In my opinion, Spain's first goal was arguably the best of the tournament, so far.

Let's all be honest and admit that next to watching our own particular team winning, there is nothing so enjoyable as seeing one of our enemies beaten! In the best possible spirit of course, hahahahaha

Soccer aka football to the rest of the world is awesome. I love the fact that it is non stop action and that it does not stop, then start and stop and then start.

great game for Spain, but with all these chances that they missed I am certain they won't go far in this World Cup, same old Spain in the World Cup: quarter finals at best

About time, where have you been? Welcome back.

This cup is just full of surprises; referees incapable to arbitrate, fights among players and coaches, big team unable to move on, what other misfortunes should we expect?

this happens with each cup

Nice goal. HuffPost 'sports' section sucks. Only about 10% of the articles are about sports. The rest is sensationalist crap and celebrities.

Yeah. Unfortunately that's becoming more common as more lemmings wade deeper into the waters of celebrity watching.

The Spanish are playing baaaaad, continue like that and go home sooner than the North Koreans
05:27 PM on 06/21/2010
if Spain continues to play laid back as they did today and missing that many goals, I am willing to bet that they will not win against Argentina, brasil, Portugal or germany. Anyone interested to bet, just reply to my blog.

Absolutely, I've never seen a team with that many open looks, pass instead of taking a shot.

My respect for Alexi Lalas is taking some deep root. It was kind of disappointing for the commentators on ESPN to be practically cheering on Spain while dismissing Honduras. I am very impressed with Alexi Lalas for mentioning that Honduras, Mexico and USA are representing Concacaf and that he would have liked to see Honduras get better results. Good for him for cheering on a team from an association that his country belongs to. Wish more people showed that sense of affiliation that's so critical in this sport when watching this game.

Alexi Lalas is the worst commenter on the sport and I wish he would go away.

I don't like his commentary either but he really impressed me today when he talked so sincerely about his wish for Honduras. It really was touching. Nice that he had that sense of unity with fellow concacaf teams.

I agree. He does not compare well with others on CNN or Europeans like Gullit.
05:29 PM on 06/21/2010
A Lalas is very biased and poor commentator who let his emotions take over his judgment. I will choose Gullit anyday over him as a soccer commentator.

Spain wins on two beautiful goals by David Villa!! Spain had chances for more (including a blown PK by Villa), and some squandered chances in the box (too fancy, boys, take the shot!). Good game!!
04:25 PM on 06/21/2010
Its seems they prefer to pass than to take the shot. I don't get it.

Gomez from the Honduran team had a great save when the ball was practically inside. I think he had another save earlier too....

He did have a couple good saves, and the Spanish shouldn't have had so many chances.
