Eclipse Premiere: Twilight Fans Create Tent City Waiting For Premiere

First Posted: 06/22/10 01:03 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 05:50 PM ET

Thousands of obsessed Twlight fans have literally set up camp in Downtown LA as they wait for the premiere of Eclipse, the newest movie of the series. KTLA reports:

Hundreds of movie fans began lining up Monday, creating a tent city outside the Nokia Plaza for Thursday's premiere of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse."

Aproximately 9,000 wristbands are being handed out to the movie fans. According to Nokia officials, wristbands must be worn until the premiere is over. Any wristband that has been tampered with or removed will not be considered valid.

Did anyone ask these people where they used the toilet? I am just truly curious!

Girls in tents? Half of the work is already done for Phillip Craig Garrido.

You know I did this for Star Wars. Never realized how stupid it was until now.

Look kids, stay home and volunteer at a homeless shelter on that night, help your parents out around the house or help organize the next Tea Party event in your town.

Do something useful and productive, not waiting in line for another stupid, hollywood pretty boy vampire flick.

Besides, it will be at Redbox by September.

Organize the next Tea Party? What does that have to do with volunteering at a homeless shelter or helping your parents out? It is a racist, right wing political organization invented by Fox News. The Twilight Saga is Entertainment. Camping out for a movie that will be out for months is not something I would do but who is to say what someone else's idea of having fun.

I was a Beatles die hard fan 'back in the day.' But never camped out for days; like these people do... Like for premier for "Hard Day's Night" or "Help." Different generation. that is for sure..

It's interesting how all of those people are below 5 on the attractiveness scale. Wonder if there's a correlation or if that's just random chance.

And I couldn't help but feel bad for the poor 45-year old schlub I saw on the morning news, who had flown out from Florida to visit extended family... only to be dragged downtown to camp out in a tent with pre-teen girls. Oy.
08:07 PM on 06/22/2010
I wouldn't mind that so much.

Yeah, maybe I was an odd teenager, but I never participated in this kind of stuff... no boy band obsessions, no sobbing/fainting/screaming at concerts, no idol worship. Weird stuff.

I can't think of anything that would prompt me to camp out somewhere like that.

You're either not 16 yet or you've forgotten what it was like when you were. :-)))

I have not forgotten what it was like when I was 16. Like I said, no event ever prompted me to camp out.

I'm surprised LAPD hasn't gone down there and beaten everyone to death on "suspicion."

or the blanket offense "disorderly conduct".
If any of them fought back, then the cop could use the blanket defense, "I thought my life was in danger"

The Dungeon and Dragons crowd. We didn't pay much attention to them in high school. Looking at the crowd, its mostly homely, overweight, awkward pubescent goofs... surely they need something to "bond" and "identify" with.

Only difference is that this time they're girls.

The only difference the Dungeon and Dragons crowd is your boss and has loads of money.

I've never camped out for a movie, or a concert, or anything else in my whole life, which is on the downhill side of 50.
Am I missing something here?
