Green Hornet TRAILER: Seth Rogen Superhero Movie (VIDEO)

The trailer for the Seth Rogen update of the "Green Hornet" is out, and it looks... fun!

Rogen stars as Britt Reid, the hard-partying scion of a media mogul who dies suddenly, leaving his vast empire in the hands of his hitherto unworthy son. Enlisting the help of his father's lethal butler Kato, Reid assumes the identity of The Green Hornet and fights crime.

While the movie doesn't exactly redefine the genre, it looks like it has a lot of potential to be very entertaining, perhaps even swashbucklingly so.

Another sign in its favor is the casting of the exceptional Christoph Waltz as the villain. Waltz won an Oscar last year for his role as Nazi Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino's World War II film "Inglourious Basterds."

It is scheduled for release Jan. 14, 2011.

This is the same waste of time as ben affleck ruining daredevil. It's unbelievable how so much money can be invested in an action hero movie and then allowed to ruined by adding a comic element. Why? If people are going to see this it's because they want the illusion that the green hornet is real. It's obvious from the trailers that the director over plays every aspect of the characters. It's not enough to make reed unmotivated. He has to turn him into a party baffoon. Then there's the shooting the gas gun in the face. Brilliant! This movie is so not worth paying for.

Some of you movie geeks should watch the movie for what it IS, not what YOU want it to be.

Christ, from the commentary, I doubt any of you a$$holes like ANY movie you see. Why not save the money and say you hate it anyway? More than likely you won't comment until you see how other fellow geeks are commenting. Not cool to think for yourself is it?

Seth Rogen? What a terrible mis-cast and waste of film. Who is playing Kato? Chris Rock?

Kato will be played by Jonah Hill - in the interest of consistency...

This has been moved 3 or 4 times in the schedule. It has disaster written all over it.

I'm keeping an open mind - I don't know much of the Green Hornet story or mythology so I don't have any reference, but I think this could be interesting. They're obviously trying to invest some "quirk" into the super hero genre, maybe because (in my opinion) that's part of what made Iron Man so engaging. Not only Rogen, but it isn't called out at all that Michel Gondry is directing, which is a huge departure from his usual fare and also a creative choice for a superhero/comic book film. I assume he'll come up with some really fun gadgetry and shenanigans. :)

I don't really have a reference point for the original Green Hornet. I go about as far back as the Batman & Robin reruns after school. I can completely accept Seth in this role. I've not been disappointed by any of his movies. From what I've heard and read, the original Kato wasn't exactly a love letter to Asian Americans in terms of the way the character was portrayed. Perhaps this is a chance to fix it. Maybe.

At the end of the day, this movie is not designed to redefine anything or make us think. Bring on the special effects, corny banter, and the explosions..

Green Hornet was a stoner?!?

Yep - and a pudgy one at that!

Bruce Lee and Van Williams deserve better than this! The remakes have to stop.

Casting Mistake!!! Green Hornet should be a manly man. Seth Rogen would be better cast as a donut dealer or potato salad chef. What's next, Jonah Hill cast as THOR?
10:26 AM on 06/24/2010
No, Jonah Hill will be playing, "Kato!"

Not a relevant hero to portray. Predicting Box Office FAIL, based on content.

COOL! a Green Hornet movie! ughh but Seth ?!?!? COME ON!

I'm gonna give this one a "wait and see". I've loved the Green Horned character for decades. I still don't see Rogan as Britt Reid, but, man, I really WANT to like this.

I know! I know! Me, too! ANYONE who wrote and produced, "Superbad" is worthy of support! But, yeah...this doesn't look promising. And Cameron Diaz - almost a guarantee it's total crud. And, yeah, I agree with previous poster regarding, "better (joke) vehicle for the likes of Ben Affleck"
