Al Pacino debuted his stage version of the role of Shylock in "The Merchant of Venice" at Central Park on Monday, following the Public Theater Gala fundraiser.
Pacino played the character for the screen in 2004, and this time Lily Rabe joins the cast.
The star-studded fundraiser, attended by Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts and Edie Falco, raised $1.4 million for the company that puts on free performances of Shakespeare in the park each summer. This year will feature 80,000 free tickets to "The Merchant of Venice" and "Winter's Tale".
