Anne Siems' paintings at first glance are quite classically composed but once you really see what is happening you realize the layers of mystery that each work expresses. The magic begins.
The paintings on top of paintings, the seeing through the lace dresses, the animals that are placed and there role in each piece as her form of dialogue with women, man, child and nature. They are primarily acrylic on wood panel.
Anne's paintings are beautifully placed within Obsolete's gallery of unusual collections from the 17th thru 19th centuries. Her subjects are masterfully at home within the many rich grey walls of the gallery. As you walk through the installation you are taken to a place where the artist has drawn inspiration and then conveys with her eloquent brushstrokes.
