Looks like he is working hard to see that he is not forever cast in the Harry Potter type roles.

Good for him.

I wish him luck but I have a feeling he may be like Mark Hammil, so identified with his first character its hard to see him as anyone else.

Speaking of Harry Potter stars there was a story a while back about how Emma Watson said she would be willing to film a nude scene. Whatever happened to that?

Didn't he already star in a WWI drama "My Boy Jack"?

Wouldn't an adaption have more frisson if it were adapted to, oh, say, modern day Afghanistan or Iraq?

I wonder how they will approach this version considering the two that have been done already? #1 being great. #2 being OK.

My fav and best remembered character is the old German school teacher. He reminds me of so many Chicken Hawks calling for more and more to enter the killing fields for the good of the Father Land.

He reminds me of so many I see here on HP and elsewhere around the net.

Never saw a war he did not fell comfortable encouraging someone else to go off and fight.

The original will always be the best. The remake with "John-Boy" (Richard Thomas) didn't really work. Of course, they were both inspired by the excellent book of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque.

Haven't seen the original so I can't say too much, but I'll check it out.

I recall seeing the original film. The story is that the lead actor in the original film became a pacifist as a result of the impact of the movie role on him. Of course, I haven't checked that story out on snopes. Sometimes you just want to believe!

Be in a quiet mood and try to see it on the biggest screen possible.
