Tea Party Postpones Las Vegas Convention Due To Summer Heat, Midterm Elections

Tea Party Convention

Just under three weeks before it was set to begin, the Tea Party "Unity" convention was abruptly postponed until October, in order to be closer to the November elections and also to avoid the scorching Las Vegas heat.

In their statement, the Tea Party Nation explained in a statement that aside from October being a "more advantageous" time, they also had not thought the event through:

"We were so excited about the tremendous success of the first convention, we jumped into this second convention without considering the timing. The heat in Las Vegas in July is keeping many who would like to participate from attending. We have also received numerous emails from people who were forced to decide between family vacations and attending the convention."

They added that Tea Party groups have emerged since the last convention in February, and postponing the event allows for these groups the "necessary time they need" to attend the event.

"We are new to this and are not professional event planners," conference organizers said, "we don't have huge budgets for PR and Marketing departments."

Nevertheless, they are confident that pushing the convention back will generate momentum heading into the elections that "will be worth all of the sacrifices and inconveniences."

All this translates to is that they couldn't scare up enough attendees. It's not the heat. The organization of the convention has more to do with making money than any real interest in issues. They aren't a real party after all. They are a scatter prone sack of cats. When they postpone in October will anyone notice?

Wow, that is such an original (not) phrase on the poster held by the elderly woman in the picture. Proof positive that these baggers aren't capable of forming an original thought.

These teabaggers apparently are not quite as committed as those who participated in the original Tea Party in Boston. They won't participate if the weather is inappropriate for velour jogging suits.

I would have a blast making fun of them. But will they be able to tear themselves away from the penny and nickel slots?

When I look at that picture and those two old people it makes me sick. What freedom's have been taken away from them? Betcha they collect SS and medicare the biggest gov't entitlement programs in our budget. When they call the big bad government and tell them to stop sending them their monthly checks maybe I'll listen to them until then I want change.

It’s Hot and sweaty in Las Vergas in July. Probably not the best thing for these tea um, partiers.

We have plenty of romm in Chicago hotels. It is not hot here. I am sure most convention cities have some room since the recession limits travel. The UP of Michigan can accomodate. I know Grand Rapids MI would be glad for a big gruop of people to come. Cleveland and Pittsburgh proprobably have space too.

It's doubtful that it would be that big of a group of people anyway. And everyone knows that old people are attracted to penny slots and free buffets.
