Huffington Post     First Posted: 06/30/10 03:17 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 05:55 PM ET

Life is full of change, but one thing we can always rely on is Fox News' continued domination of the cable news ratings. The Nielsen ratings for the second quarter of 2010 were released Tuesday, and yet again, Fox News is way ahead of with the competition, claiming the top 10 programs in cable news. The #1 cable news show not on Fox News? MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann."

Below, see the top 30 programs in cable news (and click through to see where Rachel Maddow, Anderson Cooper, Larry King, Campbell Brown, John King, and Nancy Grace place):

Rating schmatings. People (used to) tune in to American Idol to see what Simon would say. I think people tune in to Bill to see stuff like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tJjNVVwRCY

Dude's nuts.

that guy on Metacafe had a great point. Fox shows a lot of leg and stiletto heels!

I notice the actual numbers are omitted from this "chart" , I'd think the numbers might be just plain embarrassing to the lower rated shows.

WTF is Larry King doing on the list?! Why not include John Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Then I suppose you'd have to add Rush Limbaugh? Charlie Rose who probably lives in the bottom 100 news shows is much better at NEWS than King, ferchrisakes.

Abc, Nbc and Cbs all out draw the cable news shows by a huge margin, hell the Disney channel draws more viewers than cable news. I'd worry about that more than beating my chest.

CNN will always be the best news

The only reason that Fox has more ratings is because it is less expensive. MSNBC is not available unless you pay $40 more per month whether is cable or dish.

Thanks, I needed SOME semi-rational reason that I'm not living in the Loonie-Bin of Faux 24/7 Noise...#1 fan, btw.

The "only reason"? Really? Perhaps I don't understand your comment. I am a DirecTV subscriber, and I started out with the lowest possible package a few years back -- the only news network included in that $29.99 rate was MSNBC. I actually upgraded my subscription solely so I could get Fox News, since it was unavailable with the cheaper package (note we're talking about Fox News here -- not the regular Fox network). So, at least in my region of the country, MSNBC was cheaper than Fox News.

Regardless, I'm pretty sure that the cost of receiving the channel could not alone be the reason that it dominates with the top 10 programs and 13 of the top 15. Maybe, just maybe, it has something to do with the fact that more and more people are waking and realizing that they want to watch and listen to the truth of what's really going on in our country today.

Fox is probably the only channel they can get up in the hills and down in the belly. I don't even watch Fox on public television. No American Idol, Hell's Kitchen and no Family guy anymore.

MSNBC gets lower ratings because it placates to an ever shrinking base of the left wing. Mel Gibson’s rant was all over MSNBC while they went completely silent on the Black Panthers given a get out of jail free card by the Dept. of Justice.

Actually Chris Matthews devoted an entire segment for it on Hardball. He is from Philadelphia and he put far more emphasis on it than ANY coverage about Mel Gibson that I saw by Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow.

Never a story on msnbc about any democrat corruption or any story that would put a democrat in a bad light, even though they claim to be journalist I don't feel they are since they don't report over half the news. Than the left thinks Fox news isn't decent since they report all the news so the left would consider any news about a democrat an attack. If there was a similar network for conservatives on par with MSNBC there would be an outcry from the left like we've never seen. Sad thing too as they would call out some of these republicans as well that go on spending sprees and vote in people unqualified like Kagen for supreme court.

The last thing I want my news commentators to be is winners and runners-up in polpularity contests. I'd prefer intelligent and insightful pieces that reveal rather than respond, and I don't care which side of the political spectrum they cover. That O' Reilly and Beck are champs has as much credibilty as American Idol pronouncing true artistic genius.

LMAO ..... FOX has the top 10 spots. What happened to Keith Whathisname and Rachel Whatschacallit. Oh I'm sure they're in there somewhere. After all the list does go to 31 in order to include them.

What's to say? People enjoy fiction and fantasy. Movie industry has made a killing selling it.

Well, that does explain the low ratings at MSNBC - it's intended demgraphic is watching other shows. I've always expected it, but its good to hear that another person agrees with me.

Is Simon still on American Bandstand?

I can see I want to learn more about the Nielsen rating process.

To JMBrodie: Thanks for the op you give all of us to learn from you...facts, as well as communication skills...even with those who might disagree with you. That is a significant exposure for all who interact with you.
