Petraeus Confirmed
The Senate has unanimously confirmed Gen. David Petraeus as the next commander of the Afghanistan war, 99-0.

WASHINGTON — The Senate has unanimously confirmed Gen. David Petraeus as the next commander of the Afghanistan war. The vote was 99-0.

Petraeus replaces Gen. Stanley McChrystal, whose three-decade career ended in disgrace because of inflammatory remarks he and his aides made to Rolling Stone magazine.

As U.S. Central Command chief, Petraeus was McChrystal's boss and already overseeing operations in Afghanistan. His replacement at Central Command has not been announced.

Why is the Empire in 2 long w@rs?

How: 9_1_1

Who: Ali Mohamed

Ali Mohamed, an ex-commando from the puppet state Egypt, is this Empire's Boba Fett.

Prior to 9-1-1, Ali Mohamed:

=served in the Pent@gon's Special Forces at Fort Bragg

=was also 0sama Bin_Laden's security chief -- DID YOU CATCH THIS? DEAL WITH IT. DON'T DISMISS IT, PROCESS IT, LEARN ABOUT IT

=was a C_I_A asset

=also trained the 1993 World Trade Center b0mbing terr0r cell

=was an F_B_I "informant"

=also escorted Al Qaeda's #2 in command, Al-Zawahiri, in the US on 'fund raising' trips,

=also took the targeting photos for the b0mbed US African Embassies

=also trained the Somalis on how to down Blackhawks

Did cave dwelling ji-hadis accomplish the impossible with Ali Mohamed? Get their "spy" into the Pentag0n's Speci@l F0rces, C_I_A, and F_B_I to learn stuff about the infidel?

Or was Ali Mohamed the Empire's Boba Fett?

What does it say about our country when your choice of military leaders include 2 people. Two. So if Peraeus resign will McChrystal be rehired.

I must admit that as a conservative, all through this McChrystal affair, the WH acted properly. I cannot poke holes in it.

McChrystal needed to go. I'm glad he resigned. I'm glad Obama accepted it without rancor. I'm very impressed that Obama will allow McChrystal to keep his four stars. Verey classy of Mr. Obama.

Next, the WH nominated General Peraeus to take over for McChrystal. The Ovious choice, the right choice, though the media proclaiming it a stroke of genius was a bit overstated. It wasn't genius, it would have been near incompetant to choose someone else. The right choice, pure and simple. Now, with Petraeus being confirmed 99-0, I can be proud of that too.

There still is hope.

Okay, pile on the hate mail.

Excellent post.

My only quibble is your characterization of the Petraeus appointment as "obvious". It wasn't that obvious of a choice. It required thinking outside the box. It also required a certain amount of cold blooded nerve asking (ordering?) someone to effectively take a demotion for the good of the mission.

mmmmmm.... wellll.... I think I'll respectfully disagree. I thought Petraeus was the obvious choice, as did many others. But, I will concede that it took courage for Obama to ask/order Petraeus to do that. Those still touting "Betray us" will probably not forgive Obama for this and will villify him for choosing him.

Oh, please....When he was Bush's general, you lefties attacked Petraeus. Now that he's Obama's general, he's your hero.

big money in wars without end.

just change the reason you are there as needed.

the american people wont notice and still love their generals.

bankrupt states and bankrupt nation but who cares these wars are important.

the terrorists knew we would over react out of pride.

they got their wish. two unwinable wars. bankrupt nation.

more muslims that become terrrorists that hate america. perfect for them.

never underestimate your enemies.

history tells most nations do just that.

oh the price of super power status.

and most americans actually think these wars are for their freedoms.

the human mind can be conditioned far beyond anything we can imagine.

americans are living proof of that.

Who is in charge does not make much of a situational difference. As long as the US clings to the hopeless job of raising and training an 80.000 Afghan Army and National Police we will never get out of there.

When will the Great Obama realize he is not a military tactician. The troops feel Obama's indifference to the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. More to the point so does Al Qaeda. Obama never supported the war and on several occasions as a Senator stated that the Surge was doomed to failure. He was wrong then and is wrong now. The media is not doing their job in covering the McCrystal fiasco. Rolling Stone set up McCrystal, all reporters know that military members often blow off steam and take out their frustrations when having a few drinks at the bar. It relieves the stress of sending men to battle. Obama set up McCrystal via the Rolling Stone Magazine Reporter to do one thing, make Obama look tough and decisive for the liberal media. The Great Obama, Community Organizer, fires a General with years of heroic service. I hope it makes you feel big Obama but in our eyes you are a little man with a big ego.
05:03 PM on 06/30/2010
Lest you conspiracy theorists forget: Obama took his time on his decision to send 30,000 more troops. Why? Because he felt it was necessary to first consult with his top military leaders, including Petraeus and McChrystal.

If anyone deserved rebuke - it was McChrystal. Before Obama even made his decision public, and was still in deliberations with his military leaders and colleagues, McChrystal was having press conferences stating that he wanted 90,00 more troops (which then would make Obama look weak for only sending 30,000). He also said he would "not support" Biden's Afghanistan plan, if Obama should choose to go in that direction. Whatever happened to following orders of the Commander in Chief - who is the Constitutional CIVILIAN head of the military?

McChrystal set himself up to be insubordinate long before this incident, so it was right for him to go.

Will quillerm ever realize that his/her pronouncements are not supported by the facts? Will quillerm ever realize that the disrespect he/she shows the President demeans the Office of the President, not the person currently holding the office. As quillerm would likely have said 4 years ago, hardly a patriotic act.

Now that Petraeus has replaced McCrystal what if he disagrees with Obama privately in a conversation with his peers at a bar, will he then be accused of insubordination and replaced with a Obama lap dog. There should be a investigation by News organizations into the conduct of Rolling Stones Reporter in setting up General McCrystal. Reporters in War zones know that military officers blow off steam due to stress and they often raise heck with politicians that create the mess for the military to clean up. Something stinks here and I hope it gets out in the open. I personally believe that Obama was afraid that General McCrystal was thinking of running against him in 2012. Obama had to discredit him and the Rolling Stone reporter was sent to do the hit job. The speed at which General McCrystal was removed and a replacement assigned implies that this incident was planned in advance.

General McCrystal set up by the Rolling Stone? No. Have you seen all those medals and combat units he’s served with? The man has a Combat Infantry Badge. Impugning the Generals situational awareness won’t hunt. This man is shrewd and calculating under battle field ops. I hardly think Rolling Stone is remotely capable of pulling the wool over his eyes. Unfortunately for the General he should have resigned then had made ho]is comments. Personally to hear your boss say that is demoralizing to the boots he left behind.
05:07 PM on 06/30/2010
So blow off steam already! But a military leader should know better than to do it in front of a major publication.

Do you get any sleep at night, drumming up these conspiracy theories?
