Madonna's Fashion Line: First Look At Material Girl Collection (PHOTOS)

Madonna recently revealed the very first images of her new fashion line, Material Girl, to WWD. The pop star explained, "It's not complicated. It's dressing in layers. It's not looking like you took too much time thinking about what you're wearing."

She also talked about her daughter Lourdes's (a.k.a. Lola) involvement with the collection:

"She's been coming to meetings pretty much from the very beginning," said Madonna of her fashion-loving daughter. "My role was really to make sure we were all going in the right direction and it was a line that I could stand behind and be proud of and feel good about--and one that she could also feel represented her. I really like the way Lola dresses, and I think this line is absolutely an extension of her taste."

Lourdes has even started a blog on the Material Girl Collection website and begun sharing her thoughts on style. Some excerpts:

I am totally obsessivo about 80's shorts... You know the kind that makes your butt look kinda big, with a grunge-looking shirt tucked in. It's kinda nerdy but I love it. And the 80's are another huge obsession of mine, which is totally amazingly awesome because Material Girl...HELLO! It's like 80's themed, which pretty much rocks, so yeah. I'm still in love with brogues or as some people call them "oxford shoes". I haven't found a good sandal so I'm on like a search right now.

And:

OK but no joke gladiator sandals are OUT. They came out in summer 2008 and I was like, ok those are really cute. Then 2009 comes around and people are still wearing them so I'm like, ok whatever it's just a phase. BUT NOOOOO. Because good old 2010 is now coming along and people are STILL wearing them, and then I was just like OK NO! It's been three years people COME ON!!!!!!!!! I'm just like what????

Neither Lourdes nor Madonna will be the face of the Material Girl campaign, however. Rumor has it that Taylor Momsen of "Gossip Girl" fame will be repping the line.

Lourdes blogging style and language shows that she is still a very little girl despite her Material Mama's push to bring her into the public eye so soon. I see another train wreck of a childhood in the making.

I disagree. It was brilliant...and the fact that she is using her originality to design for other girls now shows how selfless she is. She wore lots of neat accessories, with lace and pearls, which will probably be sewn into the shirts. She should have a wedding dress line, too. She should also offer her curly blonde wigs.

Lola sounds like a normal 13 year old. I hear Momma is super protective and that Lola is very smart and speaks several languages so I wouldn't look too far down my nose at Lola as I am sure she will be a very sucessful young lady if she has even half of her Moms work ethic. For those of you who hate Madonna and call her a loser I have to say that if she is your definition of a loser then I want to be a loser just like her. Madonna has made half a billion dollars doing exactly what she wants, how she wants, when she wants. We should all be as smart a business woman as Madonna. In her worst year she made more than 70 million and that was the year Rolling Stones Magazine called her a washed up has been, Madonna laughed all the way to the bank with her millions that year and every year since.

Love the jackets, not going for the lace shorts, but the rest is cute.
Not giving up the gladiators just yet--Lourdes honey, until we get a more robust economic recovery trends are not going to cycle so quickly--but otherwise it looks like you've got a promising fashion career ahead of you...

Like oh my gawd...Like I have so much money that I can spend like anything I want on like different shoes and stuff for like every season. URGH. 'Like' lose the Madonna themed clothing girls. Go back to Malawi and get your heads on straight...like.
