'Twilight' Fans Brave Hurricane Alex For Midnight Showing

A strengthening category 1 Hurricane was not enough to keep away die-hard 'Twilight' fans from seeing the midnight premiere of "Twilight: Eclipse" Tuesday night. Fans in Harlingen, Brownsville, and other towns in South Texas brushed aside the threat of the looming storm and stood in line for hours to see the third film in the 'Twilight' movie franchise.

Despite the impending weather threat and the fact that Alex's outermost storm bands had already reached land, most movie theaters stayed open. Some even offered moviegoers the chance to exchange tickets to see the film at a different time.

"I can die happy if I saw the movie," fan Carolina Ayala told The Brownsville Herald.

According to Wednesday forecasts, towns such as Brownsville seemed to be in particular danger. Meteorologists suggested that the category 1 storm could reach Category 2 strength before hitting the region.

"I'm not really concerned about the storm... Edward will save me," said a fan in Harlingen, Texas.
