Chelsea Clinton To Marry In Rhinebeck, N.Y., Local Resident Says

NEW YORK — Chelsea Clinton plans to tie the knot with fiance Marc Mezvinsky in the upstate New York village of Rhinebeck on July 31.

That's according to a local resident who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the resident isn't authorized to divulge the information.

The resident says Clinton and Mezvinsky will wed at a private mansion just outside the town about two hours north of New York City.

A spokeswoman for the Clintons declined to comment Thursday.

A local caterer is providing the food, and high school and college students have been hired to help get the grounds into shape.

Chelsea is the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Mezvinsky is an investment banker in New York.

This is awesome! My hometown is Rhinebeck, and it's absolutely beautiful up there- no wonder they picked it. I think the fact they're hiring locals is pretty admirable, considering how small a town Rhinebeck is. Those of you scoffing at them hiring locals means you just don't know the area. If she has her wedding here, the traffic alone is going to make it all but impossible for most of the locals to get anywhere during the event weekend, so I think the fact they're contributing in some way is pretty cool. Now I just want to know which caterer it is, I worked in bakeries and at restaurants in Rhinebeck all through high school! Best wishes to Chelsea!

Former Rhinebeckian here, or as some would say, "Rhinebeastian." The town is lovely, no doubt. Should be a great time for Chelsea and friends. I grew up there, but left soon after high school to find excitment and treasure elsewhere.

I do wonder, though, which mansion will be used for the wedding. Ya see, back in the day (1975 or so), my friends and I would visit a local mansion that had fallen into disrepair after many many years of being vacant. We knew the mansion as "The Merrit Estate." It was a favorite place to go and do fun juvenile things at night. It became apparent soon after our first visit that this mansion was haunted...it had a certain....PRESENCE.

Funny thing though....the only time the ghost would make itself known was when we would bring our friend, lets just call him "The Columbian." He travelled with us most nights.

I'm certain that all the mansions along the Hudson River have been fixed up by now, so its possible her wedding will be held at the old Merrit Estate. Chelsea, you watch out...especially if you have a certain Columbian fellow in attendance.
