The Coolest Twitter Art (PICTURES)

Huffington Post   First Posted: 07/01/10 09:18 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 05:55 PM ET

We've seen Excel art, iPhone art, and even blue-screen-of-death portraits. Here's an up and coming medium not to be missed: Twart, or Twitter art.

Text-based Twitter art is an emerging trend for a select group of dedicated tweeters.

Using a template similar to old-styled ASCII art, people can submit their own artistic masterpieces for the entire Twitterverse to see and share. Here is a compilation of some of our favorite Twitter art on the web. Vote for your favorites below, then send us screenshots of your Twitter art at technology@huffingtonpost.com, or via the tool below!

NICE Matthew - have my slide removed. Is this always how you deal with people you disagree with?

Thank you everyone for your votes! Glad to see the genre hit the HP.

The Tweet Art in this article from @_kotomo was actually created by @makimaki59 - the art from @ricardoj01 was actually created by @twart1st. Both were Top Tweets in the hashtag #WorldCup during Japan's first match. Uncredited RTs are fine, just makes it hard to tell what a Tweet Art's origin is. So… FYI. Love the article (of course) -signed @tw1tt3rart

Thank you for your comment, Matthew.
I'm really glad that you remembered my japan flag.
My twitter ID is @mikamika59, actually ;-)

Love the article and twitter art.
Thank you Huffington Post!

Ach! I know your name & I type / proof badly … sorry Mika Mika (59) http://twitter.com/mikamika59 … I spelled it right in my Tweets, at least … :^) How could I forget your Japan flag? I have a screen shot of the day you & me & twatr1st were all three "Top Tweets" in #worldcup at once. The day that #TwitterArt became almost-respectable? I should send it in to this article & see if they want it.

I also should comment that two main "TwitterArtists" who I think of as having really started the genre
are @Om_Sun and @Guy_Vincent. They are more abstract, don't draw pictures, but are very worth checking out.
