World Cup Visitors Have Spent $128 Millon In South Africa

VISA announced on Thursday that World Cup visitors have already spent $128 million in South Africa, and that's only on VISA-branded credit cards, according to Jaunted.com.

That's a staggering amount if you count three pretty incredible factors: 1) the Cup goes for another 10 days, 2) South Africa spent $450 million to build new stadiums for the Cup, so they're well on their way to getting at least half their money back, and most amazingly 3) in all of 2009, international visitors to South Africa spent a total of $1.79 billion.

So who's the top-spending nation? The Brits. According to VISA, the biggest spenders are "the United Kingdom, followed by the United States, Australia, France and Brazil have been the strongest contributors to tourism spending to date," accounting for 51% of all spending.
