These do not represent checkpoints set up by other agencies, and there are certain to be many more throughout the city. The Daily News reports:
The California Highway Patrol will begin a maximum enforcement period at 6 p.m. to curb drunken driving and other traffic violations over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
All available officers will be on patrol during the 78-hour period that will end Monday at midnight, the CHP reported.
