North Korean Girl Guitar Player Is Virtuoso (VIDEO)

When your government won't let you watch MTV, you have to make your own music.

This video of a little girl from North Korea playing a guitar larger than she is with virtuosic skill was posted on CollegeHumor yesterday, although the video has been on YouTube for over a year.

Actually, the photo is not of a little girl. It is a photo of North Korea's Dear and Blessed Leader Kim Jong-il when he was ten years old. In addition to Kim's athletic prowess (He was 38 under par on an 18 hole championsh­ip course the first time he played golf, with 5 holes in one.), he is a master musician. The video shows Kim playing a classical guitar that had been presented to him as a gift by China's Chairman Mao Zedong on a state visit. Kim astonished Mao, when, two days later he had not only mastered every piece ever recorded by the great classicist guitarist Andrés Torres Segovia, but played them all from memory--fo­rward and backward.

The world is a much better place to have such a great man at the helm of such a wonderful country (which even has its own Facebook account!)

And she is playing on a big guitar with tiny tiny fingers. For those who think this is some evil communist plot involving nefarious mind control techniques­, you can see how happy she is and how much she loves what she is doing, torture doesn't produce these results. Obviously talented regardless­, she may be older than she looks perhaps as much as 12 or 13 years, still it is heart warming.

Well obviously the person is too young. Now it is possible that the performanc­e is entirely real, but I suggest that it may be partially fake since that seems more likely. One easy way to create this illusion would be to perform the song at 1/10 speed or so and speed up the result.

Except it would be obvious if it were done. Sped up footage is instantly visible to anyone who works with film or video and looks weird to anyone else.

Someday the PRK will fall and this girl will get to tour the world. The only problem will be how to re-program the N. Koreans to understand what living in a free society is like.
BTW, I play guitar and she is really playing those notes. If there is a guitarist out there who thinks she is faking it or it is an overdub, please state why you feel that way.

It is likely that this is a computer generated animation. Numerous examples exist, yet most people seem to be unaware that it is possible to manipulate video in this way. Children are often used, as in many examples of talking and or dancing babies.

i don't think it's fake, i know it's fake...
1)a 4yr old does not have enough strength in their hands and and fingers to play like that, with such accurate intonation­...
2) her fingers are not hitting all the notes she is "playing".­.

i have played guitar for 20 years, pro for 10...she did do a good job of faking...p­oor kid..i hope that this does not discourage her from really playing the guitar...I­'m sure it was torture for her, and she was made "practice" for many, many hours...
