That photo is the most vile, disgusting sight. Who still eats this stuff? Do they not care about disease? THIS is what causes degenerative disease! Doesn't everyone but Col Sanders know this by now?

Moved to Texas from Cali and I have to say the fried chicken in cali is WAY better. They eat ALOT of fried chicken here but they don't season it. So its like eating fried cardboard. The mexican food here is also terrible. They put chili on enchiladas (what?!!!) and the "salsa" tastes like marinara sauce.

My fav place is Roscoes chicken and waffles on Pico and La Brea. That place is like a club on the weekend with a line out the door.

LA has always had good eats, I'm surprised we don't have more fat folk, but I think people take it in moderation. Once in awhile or one a week or a few times a month is enough to keep these places in the black for long, long time.

Chicken is good period... Fried without the skin is perfect. HOLA

Golden Bird? Wow, last time I've heard that name was during a scene in Penitentiary 2. Glad to see they are still in business.

Pann's closed down recently. The chicken 'n waffles at Roscoe's on Crenshaw is th best, but Honey's kettle on Alondra has chicken and honey with biscuits that are worth every damn calorie! My family discovered it by accident years ago after my younger son's football game at Washington HS nearby. We go back whenever we feel a major pig-out coming on!

Roscoe's is the Best!
I was just there last week, so so good!
Although I've never been there sober, it's still the best!
Wait, been there twice sober, and still great greasy Chicken and Waffles

I vote for The Bird - Golden Bird. The chicken is fried to a golden crisp; it can be greasy, but hey, it's fried chicken. Also, the sweet biscuit and pickles compliment the chicken very well, and it's located in my old neighborhood. Golden Bird is the best!

All fried chicken lovers have their discreet locations that usually won't ever end up on a list like this one. Although M&M Soul Food is a very good choice for any list. Aunt Kizzy's is a great spot too. Excellent atmosphere/ambiance and very tasty food.

One of my favorites, can't even be found by searching for it online. It's a true neighborhood spot that serves some of the best fried chicken that I've ever had.
The place is, C.& O. on Abbot Kinney in Venice, Ca.

Roscoes is so overrated. Their chicken is mediocre and they dont even do free refills on drinks.
02:38 PM on 07/07/2010
It used to be much better before it became trendy in a kookish way.

The combo of chicken and waffles, will always be wonderful marriage, though.

Yes, but I must say they need to get some black cooks back into the kitcken. Since when did black folk forget how to make chicken or is that a job we refuse to do any longer

The original C&W was at M&Gs in Harlem. Sadly, they were shut down and never reopened.

Who eats this $hit.

The only way chicken is (borderline) good for you is baked or boiled. Ice cream is healthier than fried chicken..
11:33 AM on 07/07/2010
Not everything we eat has to be healthy. Much more than borderline, chicken IS healthy for you.

Even Jonathan Gold (Pulitzer-winning restaurant critic) names LARKIN'S in Eagle Rock as LA's best fried chicken. Sorry HuffPost missed it, but Angelenos shouldn't!
02:54 PM on 07/07/2010
Larkins is good but definitely not the best.

The fried chicken is very good(tasty and crispy skin and moist meat) but way overpriced for the small proportions.

The parking is bad and the service isn't so good at times. And more often than not, you have to wait a long time for your food.

I usually have cash on me, but I notice how annoying it is for many of the customers to have to use the obnoxious looking ATM that's in the middle of the restaurant, since they don't accept credit cards.

Larkins definitely has its high points but it's by far, not the best.
