Bruno Murder? Brazil Soccer Star Suspected Of Murdering Model

Bruno De Souza Murder

First Posted: 07/07/10 02:07 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:00 PM ET

UPDATE: Bruno has turned himself in.

EARLIER:

Bruno, the captain of Brazil's most popular soccer team, is on the run after police named him in a suspect in the disappearance and possible death of his ex-girlfriend. According to Reuters, officers arrived at the famous goalkeeper's house on Wednesday, but the soccer star was nowhere to be found.

"Bruno has fled," Belo Horizonte police chief Edson Moreira said.

According to the Daily Beast, Bruno had an affair with young student Eliza Samudio in 2009, allegedly impregnating her in the process. The 25-year-old model disappeared nearly a month ago, and "traces of what might be blood" were discovered in one of Bruno's vehicles.

Bruno is said to have forced Samudio to take an abortion drug in 2009, and one outlet reported that the missing woman claimed to have received frightening threats from the soccer star. "If I kill you and throw you somewhere, you're not going to be found," he allegedly said.

Bruno Souza, the goalkeeper for Brazil's league champion Flamengo team, was ordered arrested on Tuesday after his teenage cousin said he helped kidnap Samudio. His whereabouts are currently unknown.

I remember a story on 60 Minutes about Brazil, that story said it is basically legal to kill your wife in Brazil has that mindset changed or is it the act of chopping her up and feeding her to dogs that makes this a crime there? Or is it that they weren't married?

Sad. If men ever figure out that THEY DO NOT OWN WOMEN, these types of incidents would virtually disappear worldwide overnight.

I AM A MAN. Ergo, there was no male bashing. What I said was THE TRUTH, pure and unadulterated.

they just got him last night. He's in jail now. He involved too many people in the job. Too many mistakes. As for the girl, he said he met her at an orgy. The condom broke and she had a baby. He offered US$4.000/month in child support, but she refused. She wanted him to be part of her and child's life. That's not what he signed up for. The girl was obsessed with the life style and that cost her life. Not justifieing, just explaining. The guy is a monster and hopefully he'll be in jail for a very long time. He was so worried about the money and now, his currier is over. The girl wanted to be famous and unfortunately now she is. Life is crazy. Girls need to be careful. Guys want sex only and girls think they can turn them. It's like trying to make gay people become straight. Can't happen. In retrospect, I'm sure this guy feels it would have been better to share the money, even if he felt it was extortion. Just another detail. After killing the girl, she was turned over to a drug trafficker, to be cut up and fed to 12 dogs. The dogs were also captured and are been examined. Totally horrible. totally overkill. I wish they had the death penalty in Brazil. As it is, the maximum time he'll spend in jail is 30 years.

If what you assert is true, and that remains to be seen, then it says a lot more about what lengths we will go to protect our money and our reputation at any cost; ergo Enron, derivates, Wall Street belly up. the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and BP oil. Bruno is a but mircocosim of the bigger picture.

Bruno will go to jail, as he must if found guilty. How 'bout the perpertrators who brought Enron, and its employees and shareholders, to their knees? Who among the economy killers are in jail? Do you think anyone up and down the line who is responsible for the worst environmental disaster in modern times will go to jail? Real justice is justice for all.

The risk and trouble of being the "other and knocked-girl" of an uber famous athlete (in his home country that is).
Still, it wasn't worth the alledged murder he could have committed. He could have faced the consequences of his alduterous actions rather than this unfortunate incident.

When you throw millions upon millions of dollars, euros at players that lack emotional maturity and self control, unfortunate incidences such as this are likely to happen. Personally, if I had the athletic ability, I will live like Mother Theresa. At least until I retired.

violence by male athletes is not the aberration or rarity you're implying it is.
