Boxer Fiorina Tie

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A new poll finds that U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer's popularity with Californians has dropped, and that she's in a statistical tie with Republican challenger Carly Fiorina.

The Field Poll released Thursday found that 47 percent of likely voters support Boxer while 44 percent back Fiorina. That gap is within the poll's margin of error.

More concerning for the Democratic senator is her popularity, now close to the lowest since she was elected to the Senate in 1991. Just 41 percent of voters say they have a favorable image of the three-term incumbent, while 52 percent have an unfavorable image.

Women remain more supportive of Boxer. She leads among female voters by 11 percentage points in her first head-to-head matchup against another woman.

Boxer voted for essentially an open border with this:

Boxer Voted on Senate floor against amendment to bar certain criminals from United States in 2007.

Sen. Boxer voted against the Cornyn Amendment (SA 1184) to S. 1385 to establish a permanent bar for gang members, terrorists, and other criminals. The Cornyn Amendment would have permanently barred from admission into the United  Read More...

Barbara Boxer isa relaible friend to those of us
who care about the environment, and I hope she is able to hang on for another
term. We will need her despeartely since we are sure to lose some seats.

I just wish Sen Boxer could learn to be less abrasive,
smile more, and make people feel at ease with her.

Dear god, help Californians if Fiorina wins. The gap is the white male in CA who has not had to work under her, around her, or next to her. If Boxer is not good enough, then I don't know anyone who is. She has dedicated herself to California like no other Senator in it's history. I pray for the open minded clear vision of all those who do not know Barbara Boxer all that well. Let them read her history, her votes, her speeches, her ethics. She has an impeccable record. Carly does not.

In her "I'll keep you safe" scarry ad Carly Fiorina says she was chair of the external advisory board to the CIA. What exactly is this board. I've looked down several pages of Google and found virtually nothing (except it exist and she and two ex-generals were on it.) Is Carly a spook? And for who?

Now more than ever the realm of politics is the realm of public service. We are all hurting, worried and anxious about the future of our Golden State. Where California once led in areas too numerous to count (in the world, not just the nation), we have fallen into an abyss where even the most basic functions of government are paralyzed. I am heartsick. And the public servants/politicians have forgotten their primary functions: to make the system of government work for all of us hardworking Californians/Americans. I am sick to death of the blaming and fingerpointing--the politics of gridlock. And the thing that turns me off the most about Carly Fiorina is her snitty, catty snarking about her female opponent Boxer. She makes women look bad. And don't even get me started about her career as a businesswoman. To conclude: she has a rotten track record as a business person (dog-eat-dog-style), she has no political experience whatsoever, and she is a misogynist who would stab any female opponent in the back. Bottom line: we need people who are resourceful, thoughtful, brilliant and innovative in government and people from diverse backgrounds who can coalesce and work together to get us out of the disasterous place we find ourselves in. Not haters. Not blamers. Not petty snipers like Carly Fiorina.

All of these polls never suggest what is supposedly making Sen. Boxer's poll numbers drop. They just keep telling you that they are. What questions are the pollsters posing? Many of these polls are meant to show these statistical "dead heats" so that they media can ask for more ad dollars, etc. I think the corporate right is pumping millions of dollars into this because they know Senator Boxer is taking strong environmental positions and they figured that since Fiorina almost destroyed HP...she could help kill legislation...You think it's bad now California? Watch what happens if you allow job killing "Corporate Carly" be seated...

This is wishful thinking on the part of the Republican Party. People in California, especially HP, don't forget how she laid off thousands and shipped their jobs overseas. So the idea of Carly being the face of California is a joke. Maybe the media needs to find a new source for polling.

November is a LONG way off, isn't it? And not really.

My feelings towards Barbara Boxer parallel other people's opinion of Harry Reid next door:

I'm not a fan, but it's better than the alternative, which is a lousy way to vote.

Same goes for Jerry Brown. Please, ANYTHING but Meg Whitman. Talking about sending California down the wrong path...
01:29 AM on 07/24/2010
My sentiments exactly! Boxer would not be my choice if Campbell had won but that didn't happen. Brown has a lot of baggage but Nut Meg would be a disaster for the state. Fiorina and Whitman have no interest in the State of California and the voters. They are only interested in how they can use their new positions to better their investments and political paybacks. I don't need debates or flyers, my mind was made up a long time ago. No on Fiorina and Whitman.

Make no mistake. Mitt Romney helped to unleash Meg on California for a reason.

It's called 2012.

Maybe pull a Sarah and quit to run perhaps?

I am really hoping this recent negative backlash that's hitting Tea Partiers and millionaires/billionaires trying to buy their way in across the country continues to build steam. They seem to be doing a good job of self-extinguishing recently as people wake up.

I'm so encouraged by most of the comments here. This election is soooo important and it just makes me feel so good to read how many support Boxer. She stands up to anybody, anywhere and doesn't worry about a: Bad hair day. In fact, she said she might incorporate it into her campaign so she will get votes from anybody who has had a bad hair day!! That about covers everybody, lol...

If CA voters favor Fiorina over Boxer, they deserve what Arnold has given us after that reactionary Darryl Issa instigated a recall of Governor Davis.

The general campaign has barely begun. I haven't seen any ads and there hasn't been a single debate. Once that begins, and people get to know Carly Fiorina, her polling will sink like a stone. As long as people turn out to vote, she doesn't stand a chance.
