Sharron Angle Threatens Harry Reid With Lawsuit In Feud Over Deleted Campaign Website

Nevada Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle is stepping up her offensive to ensure that content deleted in the redesign on her campaign website remains under wraps.

On Wednesday, the Tea Party-backed contender threatened to take legal action against Democratic opponent Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in the aftermath of the now-erased material -- which outlined some of Angle's most controversial views -- resurfaced on the web a second time since its removal compliments of the Democratic Party of Nevada.

An expressive Angle warned of her intention to take legal action against Reid during an interview with a Nevada radio station. "Well your website is like you, it's your intellectual property," she said. "So they can't use something that's yours, intellectual property, unless they pay you for it or get your permission... And he didn't ask me for it, and he didn't pay me for it. I would have sold it to him."

Greg Sargent at the Washington Post points out that Angle left unspecified how she plans to mount a legal challenge against Reid.

"Well we are going to pursue it," Angle asserted. "I don't think that Harry is above the law. He needs to obey the law if you and I need to obey the law. Harry isn't immune. He needs to obey the law as well."

Meanwhile, Reid appears to be undaunted and worry-free amid the battle being waged by his Republican opponent. In response to Angle's threat, Kelly Steele, campaign communications director for the Nevada Democrat, countered, "The fact that Sharron Angle intends to go to court to suppress publication of her extreme agenda from Nevada voters should tell them everything they need to know about her dangerous plans for Nevada's future."

It appears the Tea Party stole their "idea" from the racist, anti-busing crowds of the 70s.

Exactly, H! It only makes people more curious. And when they are more curious, they will look into it! In effect, she has caused the number of people who think she's nutz to expand!

Crazy lady alert! Views, beliefs, ideas for the future, bankrupt. Man-o-man, who listens to these people, who would waste their vote on the likes of her and Rand Paul? Why? I don't understand it.

Has anybody noticed that one of our two parties nominated Ms. Angle? With all the real and pressing problems facing us, can there be reason for hope when the party that was the majority just 4 years ago can nominate and support this woman for US Senate; or for that matter, the current majority party offering Greene in SC albeit with less central support.

We are a country of clowns, and we are led by a cynical media. We do not have the quorum of serious citizens, necessary to find a political solution.

Angle, Palin, Cheney, Brewer, Lowdon, Coulter, Fox's bobble head blondes, The one with the machine gun, Malkin, Foxx, Bachman and on and on.... Where does the GOBP find these women and why are we even thinking of bringing these extreme views to represent America. Vote out all republicans and blue dogs and let's get this country moving forward.

Harry Reid's people pulled their site to check on the legality of running it, and were found in compliance.

From what I'm finding, they used Angle's information in a way consistent with Fair Use doctrine. They attributed authorship to Angle. They didn't lift her words and claim them as their own, though I can't imagine anyone wanting to do that. Copyrighted material may be used as long as authorship is intact.

This strikes me as a possible distraction tactic. Notice that when everyone's screaming about whether or not Harry Reid is a criminal. no one is talking about Angle's positions on the issues.

And I noticed something else. Seeing Angle try so hard to hide what she'd written made me want to read it that much more, so I did. I don't think I'm alone. I keep wondering what she feels she has to hide.

There is no evidence to suggest the website is copyrighted, either!

The nerve of this woman...and a coward. These are your positions on policy Ms Angle. Own them.

If she sues on Copyright grounds that means she OWNS those previously posted views. She may think that allows her to disavow them but it also says that they are, in legal fact, HER words. She's simply proving her detractors right, she believes her drivel enough to copyright them and defend them on those grounds.

What a hollow threat. This completely and unequivocally falls within fair use guidelines. Besides, it's political foolishness to mount a frivolous law suit while trying to hide the truth (you do remember the truth, right Shar(r)on?). Plus, by making a big deal out of it, more people are going to wonder what's going on and discover her crackpot, anti-American / pro-corporate positions. Lose, Lose, Shar(r)on.

This is an example of transparency in an Angle government. Seems more like opaque.
