Rocky Mountain National Park Plane Crash: Father, Daughter Survive By Making Shelter

A Wisconsin man and his daughter walked away with only scratches after their plane crashed Thursday afternoon in heavy timber in a remote part of Rocky Mountain National Park.

The pilot was identified as Jim Michaels, 54, from Oconomowoc, Wis. With him was his 18-year-old daughter, Tonie, who also is a pilot but was not flying the plane.

I wonder if he had any mountain flying training since he is from Wisconsin. If not, he shouldn't have been there. I'd be curious to know what caused the accident also. Smart thinking staying with the aircraft and starting the fires.
