Sassy Gay Friend Helps 'The Giving Tree' See The Light (VIDEO)

After showing us how Othello and Romeo And Juliet could have benefited from a super fabulous wake-up call, The Second City Network hits us again with another hilarious installment of "Sassy Gay Friend." This time, SGF is here to help Shel Silverstein's famous "The Giving Tree" get out of her abusive relationship with a human. Like always, SGF tells it like it is, pointing out that chopping someone's trunk to make a house isn't love, it's just sadistic.

If they do make that assumption, they'll be wrong, and therefore unable to find any evidence to support that claim. If they find a way to kick me out anyway, I will stand proudly next to the gay servicemembers who have served with distinction, only to be tossed to the side because those who make the decisions are homophobes. Why should I be different from them, just because I'm not attracted to men?

My best friend (a gay man) bought me that book when we were in our early 20's. He loved it. I hated it - for the exact reasons detailed in this video.

My best friend wasn't a "sassy" gay man, however - perhaps that's the Giving Tree dividing line.

Awesome! I always hated that book. I love Shel Silverstein's poems but the Giving Tree is AWFUL!!

All my friends think I'm terrible for disliking it but, really, it's like a manual on how to become an abused spouse, girlfriend or partner...
