Fall's Worst Fashion Trends

Refinery29:

When it comes to trends, we definitely like to go the distance. Sheer dresses, big pants, leopard shoes...bring 'em on. And despite the sheer volume of fashionable themes that come and go every season, we love sussing out the trends that really do make an impact. On the other hand, there are always a few ideas some "daring" designers latch on to that seem doomed from the start. We're not talking the questionable ones that just require a bit of fearlessness. We mean the trends that are a downright recipe for disaster on anyone who doesn't bear the name Mary-Kate or Chloe.

Slingbacks with sensible heels and pointed toes are in fashion. Not every woman wants to wear 4 inch. platforms shoes with a bulky rounded toe and straps flying everywhere.

Kitten heels with pointy toes are great fun. I don't care if Barbara Bush wears them or not.

Yeah, SO many of my friends keep up with the fashion stylings of the young Barbara Bush. Nobody I know would have any idea that she wears them, and would automatically comment on how midcentury retro they are instead. Even with the pointed toe, which, personally, I love. Much more flattering on me than a rounded toe, and with a kitten heel, even pointy-toe shoes can be comfy. And much, much nicer looking than the platform stripper heels that are popular now.

Kitten heels are de rigueur for being with that, not so tall but, perfect man. I guarantee that he loves them.

It's the pointy toes that are being objected to, not the kitten heels per se.

And as a short man, I must say, I have no problem with being towered over by my date. I'm 5 4 and I remember going out with a girl who was 6 1 and she wore 4 inch heels.... in that little Chanel dress she was wearing... I don't have the words for it...

Kitten heels (or Egyptian heels) can be very classy. This article cites Barbara Bush as a proponent of the style, but I hardly consider her the icon for kitten heels.

You may like Brian Atwood shoes at http://www.brian-atwood.com/brian-atwood.html

"Unnecessary" fur? All fur is unnecessary in the 21st century. The "bits" of fur they applaud most likely come from kittens and dogs from torture farms in China.

I disagree with the prints from head to toe. I like the prints from head to toe, especially the animal prints. They have to look good though, and avoid shiny leggings of course. As for the pantaloons, I also think they are cool looking and with a flair can really make you look good. I agree with everything else.

Fanned back Paloma. The very idea that we are even having the discussion in the 21st century is disturbing.

Years ago fun was a necessity in certain climates. Now, with synthetic furs and other materials, it is not needed.

I like kitten heels but not with a pointy toe.

I love kitten heels with a pointy toe, very feminine especially if there is a little toe cleavage.

Kitten heels are darling but not with the wool socks. But perhaps those socks would go with the blanket dresses.

Kitten heels (or Egyptian heels) can be very classy. This article cites Barbara Bush as a proponent of the style, but I hardly consider her the icon for kitten heels. How about Jackie Kennedy or Audrey Hepburn?. Many fashion trendsetters wore this style of shoe in the 60's and I think they are more classy than the absurdity of sky high heels (that few women can wear or walk in). Faux fur is good (better than real fur) but the head to toe look is impossible for the average woman. I agree that the retro knits and the wide pants are questionable trends.

Love the shoes.

Yikes on wearing fur.

The rest of the outfits - not great.
