A lot of people here are upset at the fact that we have not sent 1+ billion to Haiti. Do you think we have done nothing? Do you understand how much it has cost already to send and sustain the 82nd Airborne that shot right out of the cannon when this first happened? Do you know that there is food rotting in warehouses that can't get through Haiti customs? So you think 1 bil should be sent before there are guarantees that it will get to the people that need it? To make sure there is a plan for it before we shell it out? Then you'll be really upset when it disappears into some Hatian politicians pocket. We have the money. It has nothing to do with wars, Israel or Palestine. Our government is actually trying to do this one right.

How about we help our own people first. We have people going months without unemployment benefits that would care to have a little of this aid we pledged to another country. Sorry about Haiti but Americans are still losing houses and still don't have jobs. A lot of our school children are homeless. Let's look out for them first. I haven't seen any movie stars helping out Americans that have no home. A few serve at the soup kitchens but we shouldn't have any. Give that billion promised to Haiti to American home owners staring foreclosure in the mouth.

CNN can go F themselves - the US has given nothing? what are they smoking over there.

who were the first responders after the quake? the US military, Army, Navy and Coast Guard with food, medical supplies, doctors, nurses, field hospitals, security forces, field air traffic control officers. At whose expense - the US taxpayer - at what cost..probably well over 1 billion dollars.

what has the rest of the world done? the UN is a joke, and so is the rest of the industrialized world.

Because we are so busy crying poor (No one's looking after us! We are in the middle of a self-imposed recession! Boo Hoo!) that we have no time for the genuinely needy.

Plus we also have to subsidize a couple wars, bail out obscenely rich CEOs and don't even get me started on Israel and the Middle East ...

Unaware of this until now, I am absolutely disgusted and ashamed. BTW, I can't help noting that while we provide Haitians with no funds whatsoever to help them recover from a devestating natural disaster, we give Israel, a well documented expansionist/occupier/oppressor state, nearly $10 million dollars each and everyday, 365 days a year. WAKE UP AMERICA, THE WORLD IS WATCHING AND LISTENING!!!

I'm sure the money would flow in if the Haitian gov't was not so corrupt. Charging 20% to get aide by customs does little for the spirit of giving. Letting food go to waste in warehouses while people strave is not good gov't although I have little doubt to the slect few it makes you rich. The straving people of Haiti deserve better, far better.
