Tiger Woods F-Bomb: British Open Struggles Lead To Cursing (VIDEO)

First Posted: 07/18/10 04:04 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:05 PM ET

Tiger Woods struggled at the British Open on Saturday, finishing the day tied for 18th place, a distant 12 shots behind leader Louis Oosthuizen. If, as is expected, Woods fails to win the tournament on Sunday, it will be his seventh competition of the season without a victory.

Woods let his anger out after he missed a putt on the 13th hole, audibly dropping multiple F-bombs as he walked off the green. It is not the first time his fury has been caught on camera since returning from his massive sex scandal.

Scroll down for video.

I called in April '09, when Tiger was coming back from the knee, that he wouldn't win any majors that year. A year later, it was even easier to make the same call ... anyone want to pick him for the PGA? The fanboys need to realize that his success was somewhat a fluke fed by the media, and that now that he has only golf, coming back will be way harder. The effect of his knee reconstruction has been largely missed, and even though he's getting his contact back, his putting is leaving him as it does with so many pros in his age range. Maybe one or two more majors in his career, I'll get back to you.

What's an F-bomb, mommy?

Aside from losing some of that pinpoint control on the golf course, I wonder if Tiger is also cursing the fact that a lot of other golfers are simply catching up to him. I think he got everybody else going on conditioning and elevating their game and now he's not so far out in front of everybody else.

He may still be the best in the world, but he hasn't won a tournament this year and could go 0 for 2010. It'll be interesting to see if he pulls it together to make a run at Nicklaus' majors record.

Only in America is a curse a "bomb" and considered as news.

i guess he hasn't got the prostitutes anymore to off-load his potty mouth on before he hits the course.

He cursed, what a crime. Let's lock him up.

Unlike in other sports his outburts and expletives are not appropriate for professional golf.

Tiger ... Mel again. Gotta a little free time on my hands so I thought I'd run something by you that always puzzled me. How come, with all your bucks, you're such a lousy tipper ... I mean you're really a real cheap son-of-so and so? See what I'm sayin' Tig?

Mel, excellent question. It's like this. If I leave a generous tip, the waitress will immediately call one of the celeb rags and say I was making a sub-rosa pass at her -- even though we both had our wedding rings on. To offset, I tend to tip modestly so as not to draw unwanted attention when dining out.

Yeah, but come on, Tiger ... a measly quarter?

Heh, heh, yeah, well okay, Mel. I'm gonna have to punt on that one ... heh heh.

Seriously? This is worthy of space on the sports page?

What's next—"Tiger brings 13 items into express checkout lane"?

Yo, Mel ... Tiger, back atya. Appreciate your concern, but I'll have to disagree with you slightly on the use of the N-word. My fans never use it. ... How do I know? Well, Mel, here's a little inside-baseball for you. I position some of my trusted cracker friends with mikes and tape-recorders deep inside various groups of spectators, After listening-up to thousand of comments when I miss a shot, etc., here's the worse thing I've heard: "Oh, no. Oh, my ... our golf-celeb of delightful mixed-race vintage just made a big boo-boo. "

See what I'm sayin, Mel?

All right, Tiger has never been composed and classy on the course but this is really not a big deal and is just piling it on. When he was winning, these tirades were reported as an example of his unmatched intensity. Now its an example that he's unraveling. These things are nothing new, Tiger has been doing these things his whole career. But when he was winning, he could do no wrong, this was all part of his drive to be great. Blame the media coverage and the PR machine around him, they played along, made millions, and helped create this mess.

Tiger haters are not golf fans. He curses. So what? He does not asked to be followed around the course with a mic lurking before and after every shot. He is just reacting to his frustration just like millions of other people do everyday. BTW, I heard Jeff Ogilvie (Australian player who won the U.S. Open a few years back) very clearly say after he hit his approach shot short of the green at St. Andrews,"F**K Off!" very loudly to the green. No one said a word. But if Tiger does it, all you judgmental hypocrites come out of the woodwork to criticize. He isn't a preacher, or a teacher, or a politician, or a radio host, or a talking head, or any other person that claims to be better than everyone else, he's just a golfer, a human being with feelings and emotions. And yes, he is fallible, and so are all of you.
