Coalbed Natural Gas

LARAMIE, Wyo. — A University of Wyoming professor has compiled coal-bed natural gas expertise from UW and from around the world into a book.

The 511-page book is titled "Coalbed Natural Gas: Energy and Environment." It is published by Nova Science Publishers Inc. and has 19 chapters written by authors invited by UW Professor K.J. Reddy.

Reddy is a professor in the Department of Renewable Resources in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The book examines aspects of coal-bed natural gas, including water quantity, use, water quality, environment and water management.

Although a resource for academia, Reddy says the book's expertise is meant to be put to use in managing water from coal-bed natural gas development.

There will soon be 40,000 coal-bed methane wells in the San Juan Basin in New Mexico and another 75,000 in Wyoming and eastern Montana. Having just driven across the entire state of Wyoming, I can assure you that the whole state reeks of natural gas. Folks living near any CBM development can look forward to exploding water from faucets and the odor of hydrogen sulfide and chronic headaches. All of the CBM development in the western US will provide about 20 years of energy... then what?

What a tease! Please give me a synopsis or review of the book or point me to where I can get one from someone else.
