Anna Chapman, 'Bombshell' Russian Spy, Eyeing $250K Book Deal, Political Career: Reports

She may already be back in Moscow, but "bombshell" spy Anna Chapman continues her reign as the most infamous of the 11 members of an alleged Russian espionage ring apprehended in the U.S. last month.

According to The New York Post, the 28-year-old Chapman -- alternately referred to in the media as the "Stalingrad Stunner" and the "Bond girl" -- is busy shopping for a media deal worth $250,000, and demanding the money be paid into the Swiss bank account of an associate.

Sources say Chapman is hoping her tale of infiltrating U.S. society will then translate into a book deal and movie rights. Though Chapman agreed not to profit from her story as part of her plea bargain with U.S. authorities, there are "obvious issues about the enforceability of the provision" now that she's returned to Russia, her attorney Robert Baum tells Newsweek.

An earlier Newsweek article suggests that Chapman -- known in Russia by her maiden name, Anna Kushchenko -- could be eyeing a political career in her homeland. Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) member Alexander Potapov says he "will do everything to promote her candidacy in the next parliament elections" in 2012 if Chapman expresses an interest. United Russia, the dominant pro-Kremlin party, is known for backing its party lists with local celebrities including gymnast Alina Kabaeva (romantically linked in the Russian press with Putin) and the Bolshoi Ballet's prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova.

If all else fails, Chapman's supporters have offered yet another option for the accused spy to make a buck. "Anna, don't worry they will work things through and let you go," a man by the name of Dimitri Kotov reportedly wrote on Chapman's wall on the Russian version of Facebook. "Afterwards, Playboy will offer you a ton of money for a few pictures!"

I don't get all the bombshell stuff. I don't find her attractive at all. So she has breasts, surprise most women do. So she wears tight shirts and leaves the top couple of buttons open, what woman does not in NY, Chicago, LA?

I think the media wants her to be hot so they can build a story around her. Because if they just reported her as a spy it would not be as big a story for them. Women's rights groups should be mad too even about a spy, no one focuses on her as a person, was she good at being a spy or is she important only because she has breasts and that is the extent of her value or influence? Huffington Post which seems to have been a leader in the sexiness part of the spy scandal proving itself as a tabloid rag rather than a classy news agency. But then again no one read the HP until it got trashy and highly political anyway. So where are the stories about aliens fathering your baby?

that purveys to the lowest demonator of what someone may fantasize just because of some pithy sloganeering and self-suckling pubic felations, I mean, pubic relations, umm, pervic fellotions? She's a redhead with nice boobs - seems like three good reasons to promote her
as a candidate for government. How many votes did Mary Carey get as the Californicate gubernatorial candidate? She's a redhead with nice boobs and was a spy although not very good since she was uncovered; well, seems like a start to write a book because there just isn't enough of that. Somewhere, someone really is waiting for her to reveal: who'd she know and who'd she blow ... up?
Too whom it may concern: if you're the type that follow this tripe or swallow enough of this to be taken for a vote then, damn, you may be shallow and deserve what you get. Then again, you may not have the life or sense to care since this is the age where media has devastated more brain cells and revised truth more often than Heidi Montag's cup size. It's possible that Russkies could achieve standards of exploitation and triviality that rival Americans. This is the stuff scoundrels and self-proclaimed elites love as it blows the doors of opportunity wide open.

You got to admit she infiltrated the largest US market...celebrity, book deals, politics and she'll probably star in the first Russian Reality Show. If I were her agent, I'd get her a Reality Show via satellite. A regular Sarah and Bristol Palin...she can see Sarah's penthouse from her penthouse. LOL.
