washingtonpost.com:

The top-secret world the government created in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work.

Ok a wacky site but some good info..
what is really disheartening is all the misinformation and deception there is to wade through to get to any truth..seems everyone has a hidden agenda..sad really that the world is spiraling into such madness.

Patrick Buchanan said:
"The United States Congress is Israeli occupied territory."
Admiral Thomas Moorer, said.
I've never seen a President -- I don't care who he is -- stand up to them [the Israelis]. It just boggles the mind. They always get what they want. The Israelis know what is going on all the time. If the American people understood what a grip those people have got on our government, they would rise up in arms. Our citizens certainly don't have any idea what goes on

Dana Priest's story is worth forwarding to everyone ... the graphics alone present a compelling picture, one that points to redundancy and spending gone awry. In this age of economic collapse, the military industrial machine must be examined, scrutinized and ultimately trimmed. A lot. It is the pent-ultimate entitlement program.

"Usless Secrets". Good read and applies now more than ever. Almost all these guys read way too many comic books when they were kids.

There are many dimi-gods and despots in the Pentagon. Many years ago I tried to tell about the things I found out but back then nobody would listen. The folks that occupy the Pentagon are not warriors for freedom or vigillant to our safely. The big ones, the G32s [or whatever] have created mini-utopias deep under the Pentagon the likes of which your imagination could not conjur. Multi billions of dollars to build under secrete contracts and a billion dollars a years to mantain with the finest of everything from all over the world. The closest we will ever come to seeing this vast array of opulence is in the movies.

Paranoia will destroy ya! What a surprise, you mean the country with the biggest military budget in the world, has an uncontrolled and uncontrollable intelligence community!?!? Well duh!

Not everyone with a TS works in the Intelligence field. Computer operators at sim facilities throughout the military need them; that's one example and there might be 40 at one place. Another would be people who work at certain equipment depots. Just saying there are X amount of TS out there is misleading.

But yeah, a lot of the agencies themselves are a pain to work around or with. The extreme political vibe with them is what always bothers me.

OT, but for those political junkies out there , this is one very interesting read. Luke Ryland is an Aussie blogger I have been following for years . http://lukery.blogspot.com/ He writes about our (USA) involvement in the nuclear black market , and about the Sibel Edmonds case.

Established for the security and safety of the American populace? Anyone with half a brain can see that is not the reason. Any guesses as to the real reason besides cushy jobs and new digs? Could it be control and surveillance of the same American populace, now that things are getting so bad for so many? What do you think would happen if you crossed one of those 800,000 employees? And, although it makes sense that there would be a lot of confusion and redundancy (it makes the former Soviet Union secret services seem like a lemonade stand), do you think that there is nobody who knows how to interpret and utilize the information for god knows what end? And, finally, do you really think we should forget all about 9/11 and the many questions not only unanswered, but not really even asked?

I regularly search for information on, and read about explosives. So when an in-flight bomber is described as trying to make TATP, I know what it is.

Curiosity mainly, I made a bomb as a kid; never hurt anyone or anything.

I suppose my name, NIC, AVATAR, come up on one of these agency screens at least once a week.

Like right now.

Republican Congress set aside a whopping $5.6 billion through 2013 as part of the act for battling biological apocalypse. The homeland security secretary could commit to buying new medicines up to eight years before a manufacturer might otherwise be able to deliver them, in the process reducing investment risks for companies, according to the Congressional Research Service .The government under the act could also acquire treatments before they had received approval and licensing from federal regulatory agencies.

---What planet have the media reported on for 10 years?

Disgusting journalist and their corporate boards suddenly have an awakening….

2003 example
Republican Congress passed the Project Bioshield Act after former President Bush first proposed it during a State of the Union speech in 2003.

2002 Example
With a budget of more than $40 billion and more than 200,000 employees, 9/11 Commission have long complained about the complex tangle of congressional oversight that results in senior DHS officials spending much of their time in testimony before Congress rather than working on actual tasks that enhance emergency preparedness and defenses against terrorism.
