This sounds like a solution for meeting a need without the hassle. Men generally date for sex and self esteem. Women generally date for seeking a mate. If a guy can sit at home in front of his computer with ahem...accessories and a virtual partner who says what he wants to hear and gives him no drama or unwanted babies and a high level of satisfaction with a lot less effort....why would anyone be surprised? This way it doesn't matter how tall he is, what his income is or what he drives. He's not evaluated by a shallow standard. Women are not the only ones who are evaluated by their looks and age.

It's from Second Life - put out by Linden Lab, an American company. The dating sims in question tend to be more anime or manga styled, with a very drawn look.

No asking how I know that, either...

The brain may control the body, but sex is about physical release and sustaining genetics. Attributing the brain's demand for sex as "ego based thrills" is a misunderstanding. The id demands sex, not the ego.

From an evolutionary perspective, these Japanese men who aren't having sex will be punished by natural selection. Sex exists only to sustain the species that are equipped to have it.

it will certainly cut down on STD's to be replacing women with computer simulated characters. I assume that these computer simulated women are filled with fake orgasms, have fake kids and don't sue when you cheat on them. Or am I overestimating the power of computers?

Do try to think before you type something out. That first statement of yours makes you sound little more than ignorant/racist. If you can't see it, imagine you spun around the group you are talking to and instead were telling caucasians to quite "worshipping asian people" and that they "need to love themselves."

He speaks the truth. Perhaps he should have prefaced it with "Some", but if you look at most if not all anime, the female heroes are typically busty and have fair skin. Sorry to be to be politically incorrect, but I urge you to examine the culture (and subculture).

that's absolutely true. i'm latino, and while i've dated my fair share of asians, i've encountered hostility from their families many times and it's always been a little harder to prove that i'm not what has been stereotyped on television.

but whites own the media, so i can understand when japanese peopel see the glories of america, they largely just associate it with white people.

Interestingly enough, many Asian women have a thing for Caucasians...specifically hairy ones. Asian men don't have body hair or rarely, and so the furry guys are turn-ons for them. I hope I haven't let the cat out of the bag.

30 Rock did an episode on this. James Franco was in love with his pillow and needed a faux girlfriend to keep the press happy. So he signed a contract with Jane Krakowski, who naturally fell in love with him.

I thought it was high larious but didn't really grok it till i read this article. Thanks HuffPo!!! There is so much in this crazy world that I wouldn't understand or even know about without your insights.

30 Rock is sometimes way ahead of the curve. I did love how scuzzed up Franco was in that episode. The only unbelievable thing is that Liz Lemon would have gotten in on the Pillow, Franco, three way, but I can forgive that because it made me laugh.
