Without more information, this "news" and the article's statistics are meaningless. Amazon folks know this and have intentionally left the data vague.

FI: Amazon was selling books for free up to $.99. How many of those account for the swing?
How do comparisons for paperback look?
NYT bestsellers...
etc.etc. etc.

This kind of info and article is a Kindle ad in disquise.
