It's that time of the year again: Travel & Leisure announced their 2010 "World's Best Awards" today.

Every year we go through and search the places we have been, have yet to go and even where we never want to go again. Bangkok, which is in the thick of political turmoil, was voted the #1 city in the world, which is surprising considering the circumstances. Our hometown of NYC is #10 on the list of best cities in the world (#1 in US and Canada).

It's a fun and awe-inspiring list; you can see all the amazing places around the world that you have yet to see: the Galapagos (been dying to go there since 4th grade); Hvar, Croatia; and Bora Bora. Glamorous hotels like the Amanpuri in Phuket and South Africa's Singita National Park. European inns like Cortona, Italy's Relais Il Falconiere and even California's own Post Ranch Inn.

You could plan vacations for a lifetime with this list! What do you agree and disagree with on this list? Leave your answers in comments!

I live in San Miguel de Allende. It's ankle-deep in people who don't speak American, ridden with crime, has worse weather than Tierra del Fuego, is impossible to get to without week-long trekking astride a burro, has a municipal tax rate of 103% and a policy of slapping every third tourist who enters repeatedly about the head and shoulders with a day-old mackeral. Don't come to San Miguel. Please. I'm serious.
