You very right in your statement. My question is what happens if The Republicans get voted
back in, and they fair no better or even worse at creating jobs (how could they possibly create
jobs, when they prefer to send what remaining few "fair to good" paying jobs left in this country
overseas also at the pleasure of ceo managers!), what if they choose to not care alot about
the people struggling for finances in the gulf, what about the long term plan for clean up?
What if they make 85% of their agenda on tax cuts for wealthy people AGAIN? Where are
there plans? There're hardly to none, ever mentioned out in video print, or disscussed on the
Sunday Talks. Their talking points are "No"! In Other Words America, WHAT DO WE DO IF
WE PUT THEM BACK IN, AND NOTHING OF ANY SUBSTANCE (JOBS, THE COSTS OF
FOOD, HEALTHCARE, GASOLINE, BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLIES. NO MOVEMENT ON
BANK SAVINGS/CD INTEREST RATES/401KS, SOCIAL SECURITY, WORKING TILL 80'.
THEY PICK ANOTHER COUNTRY TO GO TO WAR??????????? WHAT DO WE DO NEXT?

Read the GOP resume for the fall. It states that they only were looking after American's best interests by 1) fighting financial reform, 2) leave anyone unemployed for 6 months with no source of income, 3) filibuster loan programs to get money to small business to hire, expand, and create an expansion of the economy, 4) continue 7 years of tax relief the wealthiest, paid for with deficite spending (total 3.5 TRILLION). All this within 4 months of the election.
Would you continue to employ someone with a job record like that? If you would, than you must be courting bankruptcy.

To say that anyone who makes over $250,000 will not hire someone if the Bush tax cuts are allowed to expire is a straw man's argument! The fact is that business deducts any cost of employing anyone! The tax that will be going up will be on personal income! When taxes are higher, it actually encourages companies to invest their capital in their companies, rather than their own bank account. The lower taxes that republicans want for the wealthy does not encourage them to trickle down their wealth -- it encourages them to pay themselves higher salaries!

It's the reason why we used to get bonuses at the end of the year. Companies would look at their yearly profit and determine how much in bonuses for the lower waged employees would minimize their taxes! Those year-end bonuses started going away with Reagan, and vanished after Bush lowered the taxes for the most wealthy!

Talk about redistribution of wealth! I'm tired of subsidizing the wealthy to keep a higher percentage of their income than I keep of mine!

If a small biz is failing for lack of business, a loan (which the banks won't give under any Obama plan) only drives the owner deeper into debt.

Obama, start with the CUSTOMER. Look it up in wikipedia, maybe Rahm can splain to you or Sasha.

The TARP program was supposed to ease credit, but the Banksters hoarded the money and went to the Fed window to borrow at 0% to buy U.S. Treasuries for a guaranteed return on the back of taxpayers. Wake up folks, we are getting hosed!
06:00 PM on 07/24/2010
Absolutely. If the consumer could refi their credit at 0%, the economy would rebound. This approach obviously worked for the banks.

Obama is a posturing demogogue. He belives the American people are stupid and will believe he is on their side.

"But with some Democrats viewing the small-business bill as critical to their political prospects in November, Senate Republicans were not about to let it through easily, and have insisted on a chance to offer amendments. "

Well, common sense would tell us that if passing this bill would help Dems, it would also help the GOPers. Right? It only hurts the GOPers if they don't vote for it, so they should vote for it.

Enacting the fairtax will create jobs then any thing else the federal government can do. to understand how the fairtax will create jobs we need to first understand what is wrong with production taxes in a global market.

Most countries that export to America, have border adjusted taxes that lower the cost of their exports (by the amount of embedded cost of tax removed), when not sold inside their borders. Those same countries will also tax imports into their countries.

On the other hand, U.S. producers struggle to compete (in domestic and international markets) with foreign products virtually unburdened with embedded of taxes. America's income tax has made free trade policies unfair to its domestic producers.

The FairTax progressively taxes only America's domestic consumption above a families poverty level spending. By taxing consumption of domestic and imported products the same, American manufactures can finally compete fairly in both domestic and international markets.

For someone who has no chin, Mitch McConnell sure is stubborn. He looks like a caricature of obstruction - maybe looks do mean something...

Republicans are betting on a continued sluggish economy, poor financial forecast and short attention spans. They will play this bill like they did unemployment insurance into overtime. To save face begrudgingly they will help to pass it by narrow margins before summer's out. Come fall they will boast about how they tried to protect us from profligate Democrats, crow about the necessity for deficit reductions and push to balance the budget on the backs of the middle class with tax increases, reauthorization of tax cuts for the rich, and reductions in medicare, medicade and social security.

The Republicns aren't betting on a sluggish economy...they are making sure that we have a sluggish economy. I wish more elected leaders besides Nancy Pelosi were really willing to play hardball.

What a clear statement of the Holy Republican Cults of Jesus Inc's desire to totally destroy Main Street America. These Geriatric Oligarchs Parade define exactly what the Bush/Cheney Wrecking Crew and War Criminals diligently did to America.

Why anyone would ever vote for these lunatics who want to destroy America is beyond any reason.
03:46 PM on 07/23/2010
Please - no Ageism. The Oligarchs are by no means all Geriatric. Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, Carly Fiorino, Meg Whitman, even Sharron Angle are relatively younger. The Republican Oiligarchy is trying to trot out attractive young to younger women to put a good, preferably slightly sexy face, on Greed and Stacking the Deck to make sure only the Rich will Win.

The problem is that when they finish driving us into the ground, and re-take power, what sort of a country will be around for them to govern? It may be more like a bannana republic than what we have now.

Americans should stop paying taxes collectively until these b@5tards start working for us.

2011 = The No Taxes Year !

How about that? Only works though, if enough people will do it.

They should not get paid until they start working for us.

Try this behavior at your job and see hiow long you can keep it.

There must be a law that will punish this behavior of stalling absolutely everything.
How about unemployment for the GOP?

You are right if people did this on the job they would be fired. I find it unethical for them to keep denying the American people when there is such an obvious need to be helped.

Yet the GOP are still getting paid have health care and are guaranteed a pension.

It is a sin.
