For workers at the Louisiana company, Ameripure Oysters, times have been tough. The giant oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has forced them out of work for over a month. Since their stories aired on NBC Nightly News, however, Good Samaritans across America have stepped up to lend a hand.

One Ameripure employee, Latoya Wilson, who was left without income, was struggling to provide for her family. Thanks to the generous donations of strangers, Wilson was able to throw a birthday party for her young daughter.

Dan Gladding, a Virginia man, who saw the report on Gulf families in need, didn't hesitate to send months worth of overtime pay to help.
