Democrats Continue To Hammer GOP On Bush Agenda, Launch $28 Million Ad Buy

Dccc Sessions Agenda
The DCCC's new web video attacks the GOP for recent comments made by Rep. Pete Sessions about a return to a Bush-like agenda.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee unveiled a new web video this week that hammered home an issue introduced by Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Tex.) last weekend that Republicans were seeking to run on the George W. Bush agenda this year.

Democrats attacked Sessions all week for comments he made on Sunday's "Meet The Press," in which he said: "We need to go back to the exact same agenda that is empowering the free enterprise system rather than diminishing it," implying that the fiscal direction of the Bush years served as benchmark for success."

This latest web video came during a week when the DCCC announced it was embarking on a $28 million television ad campaign that will span 40 at-risk congressional districts.

June 2010 the republicans attack Obama saying he only created 80,000 private sector jobs that month.

In the 8 years that Bush was in office he created 85,000 private sector jobs total. No that is not a typo.

Republicans insist that we go backward to their backward policies. I say heck no!

we have to do all we can to encourage people to go to the polls in november - i am terrified of these republicans gaining control of congress - we will then be doomed.

I think the DNC also needs to start running ads stating how if the republicans win, they are planning to lay the groundwork for the eventual repeal of the Health Care Bill and possibly the just passed Finance Bill.

Realizing the real possiblity that both bills could be repealed I would hope and think motivate the people to go the polls come November.

Hilarious. Bush is out of office for two years and they still can't take responsibility. These elections will hinge on the independents, and polls show they aren't buying what the 'rats are selling. Good luck.

Dear Syphilis93,
You would LOVE us to conveniently forget all about the Bush/Cheney legacy. However unless you want your children to inherit a burned out, two class, third world USA that manufactures NOTHING but air and hostility, leave the middle class ALONE so they can continue to make you rich. America's going to get really ug/ly and danger/ous for ALL Americans over the next 30 years thanks to REAGANOMICS.. Stop being led by the nose.

Do you have any idea what it was like in the Great Depression? You're talking about tent cities containing millions. Bread lines stretching for blocks. Talk of a communist revolution (yes, there was, desperate people think desperate thoughts).

Want to solve our current fiscal problems?
1. End the Bush tax cuts
2. Stop fighting needless wars
3. Cut the military down to the right size to meet the threats we face. Spending more than the rest of the world combined is overkill.
4. Get inflation in medical costs under control.

That is what it will take. All doable. Part of it already done.

If only Obama would quit following the same road Lyndon Johnson traveled in Vietnam.
06:20 PM on 07/25/2010
End the tax cuts? Yeah, making it harder for people to get buy will really help.

We need to do what Reagan did. Obama and the rest of the Dems need to be voted out ASAP.

Any idi ot who thinks going from a 4.6 unemployment rate to a 9.5% unemployment rate is progress is too dumb to breathe!

Any idi ot who thinks going from a DOW of 12,621 to the current 10,000 is progress should visit the mental health clinic.

Foreclosures and personal bankruptcies are at an all time high.

Sorry...The country can not afford any more of obama's "progress".

THAT is why the Republicans will take control of Congress this Fall!

Any idiot who thinks your numbers are correct is a fool. When Bush took office the stock market was at 11000 when he left is was below 9000. Unemployment was at 8 percent and rising fast when Bush left office. What is wrong with you right wing fools?

Good idea. Which special interest would that be? Big Oil special interest? Wall Street special interest? Big Pharma special interest?

Wait, those have already been taken by the GOP.

Hmmmm...now what could they have sold their vote to? O, right...voters.

Darn those Dems for representing the special interests of the voters -- It completely messes up America for all us lobbyists.

Since the Democrats have left so many of Bush's worst policies such as tax cuts for the rich, the Patriot Act and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in place, is this wise?

The Bush tax cuts expire at the end of this year. Congress has to do nothing. The Republicans want them to do something, which is not a good idea.

The Patriot Act is an abomination. It stomps all over the 4th and 14th amendments. I agree it needs to go.

All combat troops are scheduled to be out of Iraq next month. Afghanistan is another matter.

Bush,Bush,Bush, sorry DEMS but this is not 2008 anymore, majority of the country has forgotten about bush, only Liberal.s keep making that noise!!. Obama is the president if he cant sort it out then that's where the blame will be placed not Bush!.

You just said " if he can't sort it all out" In other words you admit that Bush left him a mess to fix. So do you or don't you want to go back to the policies that created the mess that Obama has to "sort out".
11:22 AM on 07/25/2010
So the folks who crashed the economy want to steer it again.

I don't get it?
11:37 AM on 07/25/2010
You truly don't get it.

$Bill Clinton threw out Glass-Stengal, required banks to make sub-prime mortgage loans to unqualified home buyers, allowed unregulated derivatives trading, sold MFN to China for a bribe from Johnny Chung and crammed NAFTA down our throats.

The Democrats controlled the House and Senate for 3.5 years and sat on their thumbs while they watched the biggest economic collapse in generations unfold.

But somebody told you that it's all the GOP's fault and you bought it hook line and sinker. Bad enough to be so uninformed, you thought that it would be clever to repeat the distortions that you swallowed.

You truly don't get it.

Gramm-Rudman is Phil Gramm's baby. His name is on the law. Clinton did sign it, but my friend, repeal of Glass-Steagall was a Republican initiative. Clinton deserves the blame for NAFTA. That was his doing.

Since the election this Fall is about who will control Congress, It makes sense to look at how things were before the Dems took control....

Here are some facts: January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress: At the time: The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77 The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5% The Unemployment rate was 4.6% George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION! These are facts. Deal with them. Since that time and especially since Obama took office, we are now entering a period of time that will make the Great Depression look like the good ole days.

I know you Dems have a problem with facts, but you should at least make an effort to stay informed! The stats I posted are absolutely true. There are a LOT of people who would GLADLY go back to a 4.6% unemployment rate and the DOW at 12,621. They will be voting in LARGE numbers this Fall ta make that happen.
10:04 AM on 07/25/2010
The Exact Same Agenda?
We obviously suffer from a short-tern memory problem. The day Obama took office the banks were closing, wallstreet had crashed, and unemployment numbers were going through the rood. We moved away from the brink this disaster. I realize we are not on a sure footing, but when someone has a heart attack and needs bypass surgery he shouldn't complain about the stitches!

“THE RICH ARE TAKING OUR ECONOMY DOWN…..BECAUSE THEY WANT “MORE” WHEN THEY ALREADY HAVE “MORE THAN ENOUGH”…..MORE THAN 99% OF THEIR FELLOW AMEIRCANS

“There is no question that the wealthy pay a higher overall tax rate than any other group. But there is also NO QUESTION that THEIR tax rates have FALLEN MORE than any other group’s over the last three decades. The ONLY REASON they are paying more taxes than in the past is that their PRETAX INCOMES have RISEN SO RAPIDLY — which hardly seems a great rationale for a further tax cut.

So why are those radio and television talk show hosts spending so much time arguing that today’s wealthy are unfairly burdened? Well, it’s hard not to notice that the talk show hosts themselves tend to be among the very wealthy.

No doubt, like the rest of us, they don’t particularly enjoy paying taxes. They are happy with the tax cuts they have received lately. They would prefer if other people had to pick up the bill for Medicare, Social Security and the military — people like, say, firefighters, preschool teachers, computer support specialists, farmers, members of the clergy, mail carriers, secretaries and truck drivers.”
