Elizabeth Warren Backed By Consumer Protection Advocates, Editorial Cartoons (PICTURES)

First Posted: 7/23/10   Updated: 5/25/11

Elizabeth Warren faces significant obstacles if she wants to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, but some consumer advocates think she's got them covered.

Via the consumer-advocacy group Main Street Brigade come editorial cartoons depicting Warren as a strict referee and fearless sheriff, respectively. While the White House seems afraid to support the Harvard professor and Congressional Oversight Panel chair, cartoonists Erick Tran and Sergio Sole have no such compunction.

Take a look:

Yeah, because letting financial institutions police themselves has worked out so well.

This is real consumer protection. Not that fake stuff from the Government

Two thugs broke into a woman's Oklahoma apartment. One held a weapon at her throat. The other paced back and forth while holding her purse and demanding her money and valuables. She screamed, and was told if she screamed again, she'd be dead.

She was doing as police recommend in robberies – comply with a robber's demands. But her Lady Smith & Wesson .38 special, which she carries by permit, was hidden in her purse.

Then the situation got worse: One of the robbers demanded that she take off her clothes.

"Come on, what are you waiting for," he told her as he started to yank on her sweatpants, trying to take them off.

Smith pleaded for her safety and distracted the attackers by telling them she would get her money, which was "in my purse."

The robbers allowed her to drop to her knees and crawl across the floor to her purse, which the second attacker had dropped.

She reached inside, and the first shot was clear of the muzzle and into the torso of one of the attackers before she even pulled the weapon clear of the purse. In the end, one of the attackers was dead and the second was hospitalized facing a murder rap.

Linda said she chooses to carry a concealed firearm, because even though she is grateful for the protection from our police, she realizes they can't be everywhere at once.

Linda is a consumer, and unlike a lot of nanny staters, she is capable of taking care of herself.

I agree with publiuswarmac: If Elizabeth Warren is made sheriff, to do a real job she will need real weapons and real ammunition. Real weapons with real ammunition and enough of it to take down corporations, even elephantine big ones.
Does the financial reform bill that was passed, watered down to pass the house, watered down to pass the senate and watered down to resolve the two provide the position she would have the real firepower needed, or was it watered down to where she won't have but water-balloons and water-pistols to try to control the banksters and Wall Street Mafiosi with?

Yawn...just another day in a busy city, unless you are trying to draw some parallels between this woman and Ms. Sherrod and suggesting that she should go after the two thugs - FAUX and Brietbart.

"For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence--on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system that has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations.

Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, and no secret is revealed.

If you believe, as I do, that there is no one better than Ms. Warren to run the Consumer Protection Agency, I urge you to write your Senators and House Representative to voice your support of Ms. Warren. I have already done so, how about you?

What a good idea, reduce jobs and GDP by another 10% and help
promote European and Asian financial centers! Exactly what industry
do you lefties suggest to fill the economic void??- no, no, government doesn't
count. This woman would be a disaster as she sucked the air out of the
flow of credit. Government mandates of loans for social engineering ahead
of sound business principles led to the financial crisis and trillions of bad debt.
Greed was only the last part, not the only part. The only really bad economic policy of Bush was a push to "home ownership"; systemically failing bureaucracies and regulators were not part of his platform. Enough finger pointing over the tax cuts, revenues from capital gains increased substantially afterwards and with the child credit 47% paid no income taxes at all. I didn't even like Geo Bush and blame him for dividing the country with 2 idiotic wars, but he is being given way too much credit for the financial collapse. Clinton, Frank, Dodd and Andrew "sub prime" Cuomo would have to share the stage. It would be really helpful to stop the blame game and understand that none of them intentionally set policies to harm the economy. They left that job for Obama, and he hasn't disappointed.

LOL!!! You have zero credibility with that statement.

The republicans set policies to benefit the rich and over-priviledged,

unfortunately it harms the economy.

republicans just don't want to admit they are just as weak on the economy as they are on national security.
