Sometimes it's good to leave a little to the imagination. Guys especially -- unless you're going out to a disco, leave these tucked away in your drawer.

I can remember when the fashion at Yale was oxford gray suits, tweed jackets, button down or round collar shirts, foulard neckties, white bucks and cordovan shoes. Then it was fashionable to be well dressed. How times have changed.

Am I imagining this, but isn't this article a repeat from last year? With the same pictures and all? This is a tad lazy HP.

Aside from the fact that people other than college students wear leaggings, skinny jeans, v-neck tshirts, birkinstocks, northface jackets, and wrap their earphones around their neck when not using them....O'K?

Living in Ann Arbor and having a daughter in school who is working for a local deli, I would have to say this author is out of touch or just so well bank rolled they can afford to be catty. North Face, Patagonia and Columbia are how to get to class without frost bite. Running from Zing's to Zing's next door in all weather gives way to comfort and avoiding pneumonia. Now to sandals and shoes, Birks, Dansko's and other restaurant wear used before and after work are found to save time in campus life transition to work from study. Leggings are often worn by those who are in active classes i.e. dance, any sports, yoga, etc. not to mention the comfort factor is important to any student. As for PJ's? Those could have been nurse scrubs, most of the nurses at Mott childrens at U of M wear them. I for one cared more that they saved my childs life than the fact they were fashion challenged. Headphones? you can tune into the University channel for weather updates, cancelled classes and emergent situations. Perhaps this person needs to stay away from campus critiques. Comfort, comfort, comfort, study, study, study!!

i think the person who compiled this list is jealous of people who can afford North Face jackets, Birks, and Vera Bradley bags. :P

There are other brands of good coats out there. Its not a slam on the coats function. There is a reason you see North Face logos/branding whether the wearer is coming or going.

It is all about the fashion and the conformity, I think that was the point. It is anti individual. We saw a cute suburban family on the train all wearing NF coats. That doesn't happen by chance, they are wearing a brand, not wearing good coats. You can buy good coats all day.

#1: North Face jackets are useful if you go to school where there are winters. I have several, and they work fine.

#2: PJ's in class is not a "fashion trend", it's a comfort thing. Sorry if I don't look club-ready at 8AM.

#3: Birkenstocks: Comfortable then, comfortable now.

#4: String backpacks - who cares? Are they any worse than man purses or "messenger bags"?

really? you cant wear northface jackets when it snows? and we are supposed to buy special headphone cases or something?

Some people love to gripe about birkenstocks, especially with socks. But why is it normal for people to wear sports shoes every day of the week (especially for people who, obviously, don't participate in sports) for comfort, but such a problem for people to wear birkenstocks, which are even more comfortable?

And that poor girl is walking to class in the snow - quit with the griping about her warm jacket.

I love Birkenstocks, and have owned several pairs since high school (I still wear them).

Are they clean? Are they revealing less flesh than they would in a bikini? If so, then it's a score for college fashion. We are full time students. Students that will occasionally oversleep, and run out in pjs. For whom, northfaces represent a nice and easy way to throw something on. While fashionistas everywhere may cry for their campus - I am a huge supporter of anything easy to put on (aka leggings, v necks, etc.)

Kids today need to spend less time looking in the mirror and more time looking in a book.
