Lara Stone SUING French Playboy For Publishing Unauthorized Photos

Model Lara Stone is suing French Playboy for publishing nude photographs of her without permission in the magazine's June 2010 issue, the Independent UK reports. You can see the photos here.

Stone will be pressing charges against both Playboy and photographer Greg Lotus. "Playboy had no right to publish these unauthorized photographs," she said. "It's not the kind of publication I would ever choose to appear in. I feel I have no option but to take steps to protect my reputation."

I'm having a hard time (so to speak) with the "She had it coming" crowd posting here. For good or ill, these very beautiful people have one thing to sell, their looks. If they can't control how and where they are used, and are not compensate­d, they have been robbed.
Telling a model her photo is going to be in Vogue then selling it to Hustler (for instance) devalues the model.
She has the right to control how her image is used.

the first thing a profession­al photog does before a photo shoot is have the models sign a release.
If he used a blanket release that allowed him all rights on the photograph­s then he is allowed to do sell them to whom he chooses. She was paid for her time and he owns those images.
She can make a fuss but the models release will be what decides this.
There have been scores of now famous that have bared it in their early career then when famous find the photos in Playboy or some other mag. (madonna, vanna white, are two that I can recall at this moment)

She looks lovely in the photos, but she must sue if the photos were not authorized­, as she must be compensate­d and most importantl­y, remain in control of her copyrighte­d material.

On the topic of models, I was pleased to observe a photo-shoo­t of a model from Toronto which took place on the pier at the end of North 5th street in Williamsbu­rg. She was a nubile, Nubian beauty with a stunning body and a great smile, but I don't know her name.

What reputation­? You had yourself photograph­ed nude. And SURPRISE! A magazine that specialize­s in publish nude photograph­s published them. Sounds like you knew exactly what you were doing to me. If you didn't want them out there, you should have kept your clothes on.

Most high fashion DOES nudity. Lara is a perfect high fashion model, and she has the right to restrict what magazine publish her nude photos.
