Chelsea Clinton Wedding

RHINEBECK, N.Y. — Chelsea Clinton's wedding along the Hudson River will be under a no-fly zone.

The Federal Aviation Administration says local airspace will be restricted from 3 p.m. Saturday to 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Clinton, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, will wed investment banker Marc Mezvinsky on Saturday evening in Rhinebeck. That's about 90 miles north of New York City.

FAA spokesman Jim Peters says Thursday that decisions to restrict air space are made in consultation with other federal agencies. He could not confirm whether the Secret Service requested this one.

The FAA website says the restriction will be in place for "VIP (Very Important Person) Movement" but did not elaborate.

(This version CORRECTS that the FAA has declared a no-fly zone but has not acknowledged that Chelsea Clinton's wedding will take place there.)

at least it is what she says it is, and not some counterfeit handbag or herbal supplement site.

i kind of miss the spammer who was, with a heroic effort given their grasp of the english language, posting vaguely relevant (to whatever story the comments were about) parables and fables from their homeland before throwing up the link to fake sneakers.

I miss Bill!

I wish for them a long and happy marriage. Seems like a simple thing to insure they do get to enjoy their wedding day without helicopters ruining it trying to get the money shot.

Stop the whining! When San Diego was on fire several years ago, Forrest Gump had to land for a "Yes, There's Damage Tour" and the primary airport (Midway) for firefighting planes was shut down for the day so his 747 could land there instead of on North Island/Coronado.

It's not a Democrat-thing, so find another phoney outrage already.

I am always amazed by the splendor and the magnitude of these rich lifestyles.

A former president, the SoS, and numerous other dignitaries? Of course there is going to be increased security, as there should

I love the fact that Chelsea's wedding pisses off the Texans in this red state. Everyday I hear some kind of disgust. I wish it was bigger, since is ticks them off so bad. I usually remind them that we still one more Bush wedding to hear about and that Pailn's hillbilly family will be on a reality show weekly. It seems to me that whenever a Democrat displays money, I hear the outrage from the right. I guess the BBQ shack for a wedding party would of been appropriate.

Tell me again, why were we asked to help Hillary pay off her campaign debt? It is not like they are poor. Did anyone else think that was ridiculous?

If you don't want to help, don't donate. No reason to be whiny about it.

I am not being whiney, I just think it is ridiculous that millionaires who kept investing their own money into their campaign expected us to pay them back. I don't whine. And BTW, I did not donate.

Yup, so you can pay for the wedding.

My career, albeit short, as a wedding photographer makes me a bit of an expert on weddings.

Some of the most lavish and fun weddings occur when an only daughter is getting married. The family knows it's a one-of and they go for it.

One polish wedding I worked in Minneapolis was a only daughter wedding. The Dad of the bride told me, "I only get one shot at this. If I had my way, they'd have to haul the guest out in stretchers when this party is over."

Any estimate on how much the wedding security will cost taxpayers? I wonder if the mega-millionaire Clintons will kick in to help cover public costs for a nation deep in debt?

Are the repug millionaires kicking in?

Didn't think so.

Not one cent, why should they.

They'll pay their share in taxes, like the rest of us.

Whoever wrote this article deserves a spanking.

Upon review of the NOTAM, this is a very small area (1.5 NM radius, up to 2000 feet above the ground) for a very short time. It is NOT issued under a "VIP" movement clause, but under 91 CFR 141, which you can Google if you want.

Now, there is a permanent flight restriction over Disneyland, which is 3 NM in radius and 3,000 feet above the ground. Why? The FAA has no explanation.

More corporate owned MSM garbage.

I think that FR over Disney is because of the fireworks and crap.
Thanks for taking the time to post. Most people have ZERO clue how TFRs work, or even the area they cover.

CessnaDriver   01:06 PM on 7/30/2010
They've been doing fireworks at Dizzyland since the 1950's and it's only for a few minutes at night. The TFR is 24 hours a day. I've flown over the place during the fireworks shows and they don't interfere with air navigation in any way-you have to fly at a minimum 2000 AGL anyway.

The only plausible reasoning is that Dizzyland doesn't want airplanes, banner tows and helicopters flying over. When they had that mini-disaster involving the Mark Twain paddle-wheeler, they complained to the FAA about the news choppers flying over and taking pics and video.

Hmm: an event with both the last former President to get lifetime Secret Service protection and the current Secretary of State in attendance? Yeah, kind of a no-brainer it's a no-fly zone.

When St. Ronald was in repose at the Museum of National Bankruptcy in Simi Valley, Nancy didn't like the banner tows, so the FAA restricted flights in a 30-mile radius, screwing up landing patterns at LAX.

Not a peep from the corporate-owned MSM.
