Justin Timberlake Designs For Target

07/29/10 01:08 PM ET  AP

NEW YORK — William Rast, the fashion line by Justin Timberlake and his childhood friend Trace Ayala, has a new partner: Target.

The retailer announced Thursday that a William Rast collection, including denim, outerwear and sportswear for men and women, would launch in December and be available for a month.

Target has had a steady stream of limited-edition partnerships with top-level designers, including Zac Posen, Jean Paul Gaultier, Rodarte and Proenza Schouler, giving the retailer a certain prestige among the fashion crowd and bringing designer labels down to a more affordable price point.

The typical William Rast look is casual, with an emphasis on jeans and leather jackets. The fall runway collection, presented earlier this year at New York Fashion Week, was dubbed "New America" and inspired by road trips between the Mississippi River and the West Coast, Timberlake said.

Boycott Target!
Don't get me wrong I love me some J.T. However, Target has recently taken advantage of the new supreme court ruling that gives corporations the same rights as individuals in regards to campaign financing. They joined a PAC and have been advertising extensively for Tom Emmer; the candidate for the Governor of Minnesota (Target's home base) Emmer is an anti-gay anti-choice, business first politician who wants to eliminate the minimum wage, amend the constitution of Minnesota to ban gay marrige, stop all government services like health care for the under or uninsured. Basically a me first, I got mine, republican. Don't think that is a big deal? Think again, target benefits greatly from a gay, female and working class customer base and they have turned their back on them completely. It is such a shame, I have been a customer of Target when they where the outlet store for Dayton's some 30 years ago, so many fond memories of shopping for school supplies, clothes for every season, small appliances and furnishings for my first apartment, toys and gifts, you name it. Now I'll just have to buy my off shore produced in (God only knows what sort of working conditions) goods from, gosh I don't know where! Perhaps these designers could pool their resources, put their money where their mouth is and create a sound business model where they sell humanely produced goods in a pro worker politically neutral setting? Sorry for the strawman angle..

This fellow looks as if he splashed his chin and cheeks with water and then pulled his face along the floor of a barber shop, collecting upon himself all the hairs that had the audacity to stick to a bit of his moistened face.
However, he can sing and dance.

Why the hate? I believe JT has a keen sense of style. Besides, 'William Rast' has been a line since 2005. Most of the clothes you see JT wear in his videos etc are 'William Rast' . The brand is a collaboration between him and Trace Ayala, an aspiring designer.

The article is about the brand's new partnership with Target. I wonder, however, if JT was aware of Target's political contribution to an anti-gay candidate, before he entered into the agreement.

Great information. Traditional Indian jewelry included various polki designs. Recently I purchased a polki set from the site www.kaneesha.com and I was amazed to see their collection of wide range of designs form traditional to the latest trend. I received so many compliments for it so my next purchase from this site is confirmed.

All big business should stay out of politics. Left or right, there should be no room for corporate dollars going towards elected officials.

Bad timing, Justin. Maybe you can put some heat on Target to axe that CEO of theirs.

So Timberlake's a fan of Tim Pawlenty? Because Target is contributing to Pawlenty's campaign fund.

Which reminds me: I need to drop Isaac Mizrahi a line. Surely Mr. Mizrahi isn't a fan of Pawlenty.

Target?
OMG, I would not be caught dead in that place.
I get a rash looking at the logo.

I've always found Target's clothing quality to be as cheap as Walmarts, even their so called designer lines. I read an AP article recently that polled clothing stores at similar costs, and sure enough, Target was rated one of the lowest in terms of quality. Some of the styles are great, but eh, what is the point if it looks crappy. Here's hoping they make some changes. JT has always had good taste, so I look forward to seeing what they release.

I wonder if Justin went to the same design school as all the other "celebrity designers". Lets see Jessica Simpson, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsey Lohan,Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker. I am sure I am leaving out hundreds more. It's amazing that all these celebrities have this hidden "designer gene" I wonder who really designs this "stuff."

The ACTUAL designers.....the regular folk who actually toiled, went to design school and learned this craft, i'd think.
