'Shitty Field': ESPN Announcer Makes Citi Field Gaffe (VIDEO)

First Posted: 07/29/10 12:51 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:10 PM ET

The St. Louis Cardinals topped the New York Mets last night in extra innings in Citi Field. In the middle of the game, ESPN cut to the Yankees-Indians game to see Alex Rodriguez potentially hit his 600th home run. He was unsuccessful. Right before ESPN switched back to the Mets-Cardinals game, the ESPN announcer accidentally cursed when attempting to say "Citi Field." Scroll down to watch the video.

UPDATE: According to TedWilliamsHead.com, the sportscaster was Anish Shroff.

I was laughing hysterically when I heard about this "gaffe". He was pretty much speaking the truth when it comes to the stadium's name, btw which I have and will forever more call "The NEW Shea Stadium". Any corporation that refuses to bring more employment in the US and gives that to China in this day and age is NOT worthy of having a stadium in their name, imho!

Lucky that federal court slapped the FCC busy bodies down a few weeks ago. Had the fleeting expletive standard not been struck down, the FCC would have filed a fine for somewhere in the $200,000 per station that aired the comment range because they would claim that his statement referred to a scatological action and was therefore actionable. If the stations appealed the fine, they would have their broadcast license renewals suspended.

Wow.

That hardly even sounded like a slip of the tongue. There was a pretty strong emphasis on the SH.

LMFAO....the Mets can expect to hear that a TON.

But apparently it's actually quite a nice ballpark.

I think he got tongue tied between Shea Stadium and Citi Field. I'd wait to hear from broadcaster, if he gets asked.
