Colbert Finds The Disappearing Oil (VIDEO)

First Posted: 07/30/10 01:35 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:15 PM ET

In the latest episode of The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert tackles the case of the disappearing oil in the Gulf, as multiple media outlets have reported that cleanup crews are having a hard time finding oil.

Unfortunately, Colbert says it isn't just a matter of "out of sight, out of pelican," and in light of the new oil spills recently occurring in Michigan and a second one in the Gulf, he's figured out the problem: "We capped the Gulf leak and it popped up in Michigan, then we capped it in Michigan and it popped up in the Gulf again. Ladies and gentlemen, I am afraid the oil has achieved Whac-A-Mole technology."

Naturally, Stephen concludes that our oil workers should all be armed with large foam mallets.

With any luck, the oil will pop up under Tony Hayward next time.

Thank goodness Colbert has found the missing oil, since the traditional media is buying into BP’s lies and deceit about the oil disappearing. . .

Next step, Colbert—can you find the dangerous dispersant which is even more toxic than the oil? Here’s a hint: it’s sneaking into our food chain. See Dan Froomkin’s article, “Scientists Find Evidence That Oil And Dispersant Mix Is Making Its Way Into The Food chain” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/29/scientists-find-evidence_n_664298.html

As Dan says in the article listed above:
“But the answer is clear: In part due to the1.8 million gallons of dispersant that BP used, a lot of the estimated 200 million or more gallons of oil that spewed out of the blown well remains under the surface of the Gulf in plumes of tiny toxic droplets. And it's short- and long-term effects could be profound.”

Colbert is our lord and saviour... Without him the truth would never be told ;)

Sucks that it really is likely to end up in lots of people's bodies causing all sorts of illnesses.....

Lets hope that Greenland isn't the next wack a mole location after the gulf and Michigan.Uproar As UK Firm Drills For Oil In The Arctic
As the cleanup continues after the BP oil spill, another British company, Cairn Energy, is beginning oil exploration off the coast of Greenland. It has been widely condemned by environmental groups http://www.newslook.com/videos/235220-uproar-as-uk-firm-drills-for-oil-in-the-arctic?autoplay=true

funny...only no one is playing up that they released 'dispersant', more toxic than the oil, prolly, right alongside the leak; so the oil is now 'dispersed' (which means 'hopefully you have forgotten about it'), remaining under the surface, where scientists, who have all been bought up by BP, aren't going to look too hard. Suck on it, world; i GOT my gold-Tony.

For months now NOAA, two universities and other scientist are have been checking below the surface throughout the gulf. If you were really concerned you would know that. The few scientists that are contracted by BP are far out numbered by those who will be appearing as expert witnesses for the states involved and the federal government. It is time to quit enjoying the oil spill so much.

"Enjoying the oil spill"? So, you like science, eh?
Once upon a time I smoked cigarettes. The big dig from non-smokers was that sitting in a non-smoking area was like swimming in the no peeing section of a swimming pool.
You know where I'm going with this, now, don't you?
The oil industry is hoping that you don't remember from your science class that water is an excellent mixer for hydrophillic agents...such as dispersants, and dispersants break down oil molecules which don't really mix with the water, but retain their carbon integrity and have no electrical charge, and so are termed hydrophobic.
When temperature changes, the oil particles will rise or fall from center, and will be washed around as tides and currents push and pull them, but, for the most part, until removed (and in the broken down form of post dispersants, that isn't bloody likely) they will remain in the water and travel freely wherever currents take them.

Basically, and in layman's terms,
the oil industries are pissing in our water everywhere on Earth.

The ship in Australia, the Chinese spill in Asia, the Alaskan spill, Saddam's pouring of tanks of oil into the sea, the gulf spill and all the billions and billions of gallons of oil poured into our oceans, lakes and rivers will be in the water for a millennium or better. Even the clowns who change their oil from their cars and our the waste in the sewers.

Science!? HAH!
