Nancy Pelosi On Midterms: 'We Are Not Going Back'

Nancy Pelosi

Politico:

Three months before what promise to be brutal House elections, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is again the Happy Campaigner, vowing to defend "every grain of sand" of what she's built in Congress and predicting this August will prove kinder to her Democrats than a year ago.

"They kept hope alive last August," she said of rank-and-file lawmakers who weathered stormy town meetings and still came back to help her enact health care reform. "Last year, they had to defend a bill that wasn't even settled upon," Pelosi told POLITICO.

To Nancy Pelosi , Why are the dems in Congress riding roughshod over the president.? For the sake of the Universe you must reign them in, Why did they ask for a 2/3 majority on The Health care bill for the workers who lost their health because they believed Christine whoever she was who told them everything was safe.I believe they would have done it anyway. That's the way of the hero. If nothing else, we must erase everything that came about when the War Criminals at large, bush, rumsey, cheney and rove were in power. Please, take the reigns and talk to the president, He's got to keep the promises he made to us and I'm afraid you are the only real help he has. of my friends are political activists who have voted since they were 18.Many of them have already stated that more than any other election this has been the most dissappointing. Unless things change desperately, they will never vote again. For every one I know that feels that way there are 10.00 who I don't know. He will be by fighting the good fight known as the greatest president ever, even if he doesn't win. If he doesn't at least try, he won't even be remembered only as the president who took the last hope that we actually could make change with our votes.

"We're not going back." ...really? That presumes you've gone FORWARD. Nancy, I love you but we gave the Dems the White House, The House, and a Super-Majority in The Senate, and while you have done YOUR job in the House, the President and the Senate have done NOTHING (unless you call reform-in-name-only something). Instead of putting my efforts into electing you, I should gave bought stock with the monopolistic health insurance carriers. At least then I could have had some return on my investment. I guess Rahm is right, we are a bunch of f'ing re/ards for believing in the Dems. I'm not voting next cycle. No money. No support. No door to door No phone banking. Nothing. Let the corporatists have this country. I'm done.

POLITICS ARE JUST LIKE DRIVING

Put in "R" to go BACKWARDS

Put it in "D" to MOVE FORWARD!!

Simple as that.

That is all

When will the average American realize, that no matter who you vote for, our foreign and domestic policies have not changed from one administration to the next.

Our forgein policy of the last century is deeply flawed, and has not served
our Nation Security Interests.

All of our wars, and social programs are payed for through the deceitful process of
inflating and borrowing.

So, no it is not "simple as that."

For all the "she won't be back," Speaker Pelosi has her district locked in.

They love her.

The dems will still be the majority, no matter how many seats the media "believes" are in jeopardy. I truly think its not that many, but MSM needs conflict and hatred.

Wonder why?

Last, she's such a force, that come 2012, AFTER the President is RE-Elected, there will be no need to worry about re-election and President along with the Speaker will cement a legacy of appropriate and prudent policy that will shape the future of this great Nation and correct the errant ways of the GOP.

or

The nincompoops of this land will elect either a moose hunter, one of two guys (a former governor (ARK) and a current governor (LA)) who literally, don't blink when they talk (spooky), a man who invented the economy from Massachusetts,

or

some regular guy named Rufus from Alabama who has a house full of guns, doesn't like gays, non-whites, non-Christians, abortion, government, immigrants, science, education, taxes, alternative energy, conservation, the environment, debate, discussion, or information.

Although Rufus is proud to say he's a (*snicker*) tea-bagger.

I respect his right to put his private activities "front and center".

Pelosi does indeed have her district locked in. After all, she is a member in good standing of the Bay Area Mafia and the area's fawning synchophants adore her.

The dems many, or may not, be the party in power after November but their performance to date argues that they do not deserve to be.

President Obama may. or may not, be re-eleced int 2012. If he is, the legacy left behind will be simply awful . If he isn't re-elected in 2012 his legacy will be bad enough, worse that President Carter.

The mindless denigration of politicians you disagree with are not worthy of a comment beyond "get a clue".

radmo,
So you are saying that Republicans (You know, the ones that ran the Country off of a Cliff) are the better chioce to head the Country? So you are saying the Democrats (You know, the ones that have accomplished more in the first two years than any other Congress in the last fifty years, despite having the opposing Party Filibuster and block everything), do not deserve to win this fall?
The Republicans will give our Oil away, Sell our Ports to the United Arab Emmerates, and destroy our Constitution. But you will still vote for them, won't you?

Madam Pelosi ( can I call you Nancy? )

I first want to apologize ...for neglecting you all this time. I have posted mulitple different thank you's to your great President ,but in all this time ,I have sidestepped you.

Let me change that now.

Perhaps being a man , I have subconsciously omitted a post for you. I think that we have come a long way for womens' rights but you are part of the elite of the elite within a man's world. You are SECOND in line to the Presidency of the most powerful country on earth.

I think many ..so many have taken you for granted during this legislative session. You have had to juggle so many opinions and egos of men and women alike.( yeah especially the men) Sometimes you have handled the pressure in your own way and the press have blown it way out of proportion , but you have overcome. You have overcome the lies and barbs and have been so effectual LEADING.

You have combatted the party of NO and helped pass almost THREE HUNDRED PIECES of legislation that languish in the senate still.

Now having passed groundbreaking reform that ALL MEN have tried to achieve for a CENTURY. ( and there more great achievements to come )

Take a Bow Madam Speaker. Take a Bow.

1) Pelosi is a great Speaker;
2) For all those that say that she's not coming back: as long as she runs, she'll be elected, no one can beat her in her district.
02:55 AM on 07/31/2010
There are two things Pelosi and the Democrats should do if they want to minimize their losses in November:
1) The Democrats should pass strong, popular, effective reforms. For example, with climate change legislation, they shouldn't just pass a bill that merely addresses oil drilling, they should pass a bill that includes incentives for renewable energy and that sets targets for deep reductions in carbon emissions.
2) The Democrats should pass a strong public option. The passage of the healthcare bill without the public option worsened the standings of many of the Congressmen that voted for it. The healthcare bill and the debacle around it is obviously something they don't want to think about, but passing a strong public option can correct the damage they inflicted on their party by passing the healthcare bill.

First, they couldn't get the Dems in Congress to pass this before. What makes you think they can get the votes now?

The reason that the Dems are going to suffer HUGE losses is that they are trying to pass legislation like you suggest.
03:06 AM on 08/02/2010
You say that Democrats will suffer huge losses because they're trying to pass such legislation; well how does that explain these things:

-An ABC News/Washington Post poll showed 65% of Americans nationwide support financial reform.
-A Hart Research poll showed 57% of voters support a carbon tax.
-A Stanford University poll showed 84% of Americans support the government offering tax breaks to encourage more wind, solar and water power.
-A Benenson Strategy Group poll showed 61% of 2010 voters support a bill "that will limit pollution, invest in domestic energy sources and encourage companies to use and develop clean energy.

These polls show that Americans are on the side of Democrats when it comes to these reforms.
In addition, the public option likely had the votes; it's just that the public option was never given a vote in the Senate, where it could've passed. With the healthcare bill weighing down Democrats in the polls, passing a public option before November would greatly help them.
