Janie Bryant Becomes Maidenform's New Face

"Mad Men" costume designer Janie Bryant will be the next face of Maidenform intimate apparel, WWD reports:

She will appear in a viral marketing campaign beginning this month on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and maidenform.com, as well as appearing at consumer and industry events. Among the Maidenform undergarments Bryant will push are the Ultimate Push-Up Bra, Flexees Firm Control Slip and Fat Free Dressing shapewear.

Bryant explained that "foundations and intimate apparel" are important to her. She is also set to launch a clothing line and nail polish collection, and to of course continue styling "Mad Men."

The backstory on this is interesting too. Janie contacted Maidenform herself when she was working on her book on Mad Men costumes and styling to ask if she could use some of their long-running advertising campaign "I dreamed I..." and the result is they will be using her in the new ads.

Nostalgia is fun (the 'groovy 60s' advert was somewhat fun to watch), but you're right - not many are feeling good about looking forward. Real life just isn't "Star Trek VI" where "who's afraid of the future and change" was the movie's moral...
