Newlyweds Recycle Their Way To $3,800 Wedding

Peter and Andrea Geyer, from Spokane, Wash., collected over 400,000 cans over the last year, and turned in those cans to earn $3,800. That money paid for their wedding.

"We couldn't have done this without all our friends and family," Peter Geyer told CBS News. "It's just as much them as it is us."

The Geyers themselves collected only 280,000 cans themselves -- if 280,000 can be considered only. The rest were donated by Alcoa and United Recycling Services.

According to the couple's website, they'll continue to collect cans, with 60% of the proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders and the Rim Country Land Institute.
