Ballet Dancers Break Record In Central Park (PHOTOS)

Hundreds of ballerinas scampered to Central Park's Naumburg Bandshell to break a world record.

Some 230 ballet dancers stood en pointe for one minute and seven seconds. That beat the previous record of 220 dancers.

American Ballet Theatre principal dancers Michele Wiles and Craig Salstein spearheaded the attempt, which helped raise donations for the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club.

I wonder if the amount they raised was more than the price of 230 pairs of ruined pointe shoes...

Ha! Good point(e). But every ballerina has a closet full of worn-out pointe shoes that still have 1 minute and 7 seconds left in them ... it's not like they actually had to dance in 'em!

That cute little one is a bit young to be on pointe, but then again, she's cute.
