Is Coconut Water Mother Nature's Sports Drink?

Not to be confused with coconut milk, which is made from the white flesh of the fruit, coconut water is the clear liquid in the fruit's center. Also unlike coconut milk, the water is very low in calories and fat and high in the electrolyte potassium, which is why it's often marketed as a natural alternative to sports drinks.

I've been hooked on coconut water since I was a kid growing up and spending time in the Florida Keys. I love that it is so readily available in stores now. Here's a tip for fellow readers - you can order direct from Vita-Coco's (my 2nd favorite brand) website and they'll ship free to your home through Amazon without having to pay the retailers mark-up. My favorite brand in case you're curious is C20 but it's not as widely available and you can't order directly.

In 2000 I bought ice cold coconut water served in a green coconut shell with a straw on a Venezuelan beach. It was the only liquid not sold in a bottle or can. The rustic beach shack vendor used a rusty machete to chop open the cold coconut while a house cat sit on his dirty countertop probably rescued from a dump. I am living proof the anti aging, viagra health properties of coconut water are nonsense but I love the stuff anyway. It doesn't improve my performance with women but it replaces women.

I would say so. When me and my boy were studying for the MCAT they advised us to drink gatoraid during breaks from the hours of practice tests. We swiched from gatoraid to coconut water and had less headaches.
