Bush Pushes Back Memoirs So GOP Isn't Hurt In Midterms, Friends Say

Bush Memoirs Delay

George W. Bush pushed back publication of his memoirs, "Decision Points," out of fear that a public reminder of his presidential legacy would hurt Republicans heading into November's midterm elections, Bush's friends tell the Financial Times.

The FT reports that Bush refused to allow publication in September, which would have been a better time to unveil his book from a sales perspective. Instead, it's slated to hit stores on Nov. 9, one week after Election Day. Bush isn't scheduled to give any interviews for the book tour until Nov. 8.

For their part, Random House's Crown group said they made the call to delay "Decision Points," concluding, "From a media perspective the period leading up to the midterm elections is a very noisy and crowded space and we believe the president's book will be better served by being launched following that time."

I've got some stuff for Bush's memoirs. I remember how Bush managed to demand that Congress fork over a trillion to his banking pals or risk martial law within days; lie the nation into a failed multi-trillion-dollar war; create a Grand Canyon of wealth inequality; fly billions of dollars in bundles of fresh hundred-dollar bills shrink-wrapped on pallets to Iraq so it could all "disappear" with no attempt  Read More...

The truth hurts, sometimes. Yes he really was that bad a president that the release of his book during the mid-term election campaign could seriously harms his party's chances at the polls. If the people would just remember what the last Republican president did, they would not vote for Republican candidates for the House or Senate. Wow! You've got to admit that's bad, real bad.

I think we need to start a campaign today to get this book published NOW, well, October would be good. Let's get it published for October. Every Democrat with a Republican friend should pre-order it now to give to their friend. Let's get this thing out there before the election.

W's crappy stewardship of the country began one day after election day, so, if you think about it, it's kind of appropriate. #p2 #GOP

Is there some block buster news in Georgie's book that he doesn't want us to know about until after the election?

Since the Repubs want to return to Bush's policies, I would think that they would want the book to be published before the elections. After all, they think he was such a great president. Or are they afraid that his policies 2 wars unfunded, Med D unfunded, tax cuts unfunded, will wake people up to the fact that his entire administration was an utter failure?
08:18 AM on 08/06/2010
Obama is still waging 2 unfunded wars. MedicareD is still not funded. Democrats will keep the Bush tax cuts. And I bet you just love Obama. Hypocrites, all of you.

And how loudly would you be screaming about "irresponsibility" had Obama gone in their and ended those wars and brought our troops home. For your information, not that your in a quest for knowledge, but the cost of these wars now are included in the size of the deficit that you are more than happy to pin on Obama.

It's pretty indicative of the GOP mindset that they don't want the voters to be "reminded" of Bush- as usual they're counting on the short memories and the shorter attention span of the voters. Not that Bush's undoubtedly revisionist history is liable to reveal any of importance.
If Bush wants to make a truly grand gesture he should throw Cheney and Rove under the bus.
