Women Attracted To Men Who Wear Red: University Of Rochester Study

A new University of Rochester study puts forth a strong suggestion for men who desire a female mate: Wear red.

BusinessWeek reports:

[Researchers] asked 288 female and 25 males undergraduates to look at photos of a man in which his shirt was digitally colored either red or another color. Women said the red shirt made the man appear more powerful, attractive and sexually desirable. However, it didn't make him seem more likeable, kind or sociable.

Rochester psychology professor Andrew Elliot and his colleagues found that this trend transcends borders; women from a variety of countries across the globe had similar reactions to the color.

Besides wearing red, men might also want to pay mind to their scent. A 1995 University of Bern study found that smell often indicated attraction. According to the Guardian, scientists found that a man's smell could often spur attraction.
