American Flight Diverted To New Mexico After Passengers Smell Smoke

An American Airlines flight from New York to Los Angeles was diverted to a New Mexico airport after passengers said they smelled smoke, according to the Associated Press.

Flight 117 was en route to LAX from JFK when it made an emergency landing at Albuquerque International Airport around 4:30pm. A passenger claimed a male passenger had lit matches.

The man was removed from the flight and the plane was evacuated; no injuries were reported.

Passengers re-boarded and continued to LAX around 10:30pm.

The man was not arrested and has since been released.

Do I understand this correctly? ONE passenger fingered the man and he was removed? If several, then OK. If only one, not ok.
